were born. In 1926 they moved to in Richfield, WA, and bought a dairy farmer which turned out to be an<br />

economi<strong>ca</strong>l disaster and in 1927 we find them back in Idaho at Castleford near Twin Falls.<br />

In 1928 John bought 7 lots for the tax owing in the townsite <strong>of</strong> in Filer, ID. John and Carrie appeared on the<br />

census <strong>of</strong> 15 Apr 1930 in Castleford, ID. In 1940 John traded the 7 lots in Filer for 40 acres <strong>of</strong> land south <strong>of</strong><br />

Buhl, ID which they farmed for only 2 years before John had a heart attack. Most <strong>of</strong> this land was still in the<br />

family and as <strong>of</strong> Oct 2005, 7 grandchildren lived on this 40 acres.<br />

Johann 'John' <strong>Wonnenberg</strong> died on 8 Jun 1942 in Twin Falls, ID, at age 57. He was buried on 12 Jun 1942 in<br />

Buhl, ID.<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> Johann 'John' <strong>Wonnenberg</strong> and Carolina 'Carrie' Herrmann were as follows:<br />

ii. Elsie was born on 12 Jul 1910 in Ault, CO. She died on 12 Jul 1910 in Ault, CO.<br />

49. iii. William 'Bill,' born 14 Sep 1911 in Ault, CO; died 21 Oct 1984 in Twin Falls, ID.<br />

iv. John was born on 15 Oct 1913 in Ault, CO. He died on 27 Jan 1987 in Twin Falls,<br />

ID, at age 73. He was buried on 30 Jan 1987 in Buhl, ID.<br />

v. Marie was born on 31 Oct 1915 in Blackfoot, ID. She died on 31 Oct 1915 in<br />

Blackfoot, ID.<br />

vi. Harry was born on 25 Oct 1916 in Moreland, ID. He died on 21 May 1988 in San<br />

Bernardino, CA, at age 71. He was buried on 27 May 1988 in Redlands, CA.<br />

vii. Edward was born on 7 Apr 1918 in Blackfoot, ID. He died on 8 Jun 1919 in<br />

Blackfoot, ID, at age 1.<br />

50. viii. Ella Clara, born 17 Jul 1920 in Blackfoot, ID; died 12 Mar 2003 in Buhl, ID.<br />

51. ix. Edna Sarah, born 20 Jun 1924 in Blackfoot, ID; died 7 Apr 2001 in Twin Falls, ID.<br />

x. Hilda Verna was born on 25 Apr 1926 in Blackfoot, ID. She married Roy Jewett<br />

on 1 Aug 1945 in Buhl, ID. She and Roy Jewett were divorced cir<strong>ca</strong> 1947. She<br />

married Arland C. 'Slim' Alger on 20 Nov 1948 in Ely, NV. She died on 11 Jan<br />

1980 in Ely, NV, at age 53. She was buried on 16 Jan 1980 in Buhl, ID.<br />

52. xi. Louis, born 15 Mar 1931 in Buhl, ID; died 21 Dec 2005 in McGill, NV.<br />

18. Ludwig 'Loui' WONNENBERG Jr. (Ludwig, Friedrich, <strong>Heinrich</strong>) was born on 15 Apr 1887 in North<br />

Cau<strong>ca</strong>sus. He married Maude Anderst, daughter <strong>of</strong> Peter Anderst and Rosa Werner, in 1907 in CO. He and<br />

Maude Anderst immigrated in Oct 1908 to Spondin area, AB. On 5 Apr 1909 Ludwig made appli<strong>ca</strong>tion for<br />

entry for a homestead on two different quarter sections - both the SW and NW quarter <strong>of</strong> 9-34-7 W4M. On<br />

September 28, 1909 he signed a declaration to abandon both <strong>of</strong> these quarters with the explanation that "The<br />

land is unfit for cultivation". Through these affidavits he was granted release from any obligations on these two<br />

quarter sections.<br />

On 11 Feb 1910 Ludwig made an appli<strong>ca</strong>tion and was granted 'entry' to his homestead NW2-32-13 W4 near<br />

Hanna, AB. He built a sod house 12' X 29' and and moved in on 26 Mar 1910. Over the next three years they<br />

built a sod barn 13' X 34', dug a water well, plowed 40 acres and fenced 40 additional acres and by 1913 had a<br />

farm with 4 horses, 11 <strong>ca</strong>ttle and 3 pigs. In 1911, 12, 13 he put a crop in on 40, 23 and 14 acres. Ludwig was<br />

issued land title rights for his homestead on NW1/4 Sec 2, Twp 32, Rg13, W4M on 30 May 1913 near Hanna,<br />

AB. In 1918 Ludwig and Maude are listed as one <strong>of</strong> the premier members <strong>of</strong> the Seven Day Adventist<br />

congregation in the Sponden, Alberta district. The family followed this religion their entire life. Ludwig was<br />

listed as the owner <strong>of</strong> Section 30, Township 31, Range 12, W4 on a 1920 map. In 1923 Ludwig and the family<br />

left Canada immigrated to Twin Falls, ID. He appeared on the census <strong>of</strong> 4 Apr 1930 in Twin Falls, ID.<br />

Ludwig's name is recorded as "Lambert" on the census and his occupation is listed as a farm labourer. He was<br />
