50th 50th 50th 50th Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary Season Season Season Season
When the curtain rose on stage at 8:00pm on Saturday, July
21st, the 50th Anniversary Season of Slidell Little Theatre was
officially launched. This year’s DramaFest featured scenes
from productions staged in the five decades since the first production,
”The Matchmaker”, was presented in 1963. Stephen Cefalu
was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and provided
not only the introductions of each scene but also some “behind
the scenes” anecdotes to the delight of the audience.
From the 1960s, two short scenes were presented from “You Can’t Take It
With You”, which was again produced in 1987. Renee Saussaye directed
that night’s scene selections, featuring Melanie St. Cyr, Josh St. Cyr, Rick
Rawle, Ronald Brister, Deborah Jack, and Michael Pagones.
The selection from the 1970s was a scene
from “All My Sons”, which won the Ginny Award for Best Play of the
1972-73 season, and tonight’s scene was directed by Allen L. Little.
Featured in this scene was Jim Pagones, Sara Pagones, and James Pagones.
Next up was “On Golden Pond” from the 1980s, which was produced in
1982 and owns the distinction of being SLT’s 100th Production. Directed
by Allen L. Little, Robert Jahncke and Kit McLellan portrayed
Norman and Ether Thayer, using the platform of Readers Theatre
(staged reading of a play).
We moved on to the 1990s with “Lost In Yonkers”, a Neil Simon
classic, seen on the SLT stage in 1999. Sara Pagones provided the
direction to cast members Michael Pagones, Jake Weaver, and
Melany Linder Graham.
The evening concluded with a powerful scene from the 2000’s production
of “A Raisin in the Sun”. This show was originally on the
slate in 2005, but was cancelled due to Katrina and ultimately presented
in 2007. Joan Spraggins, Jenifer Baptiste, Tirell Sylvas and
Virginia Theodore performed under the direction of Kit McLellan.

Theatre Mementos on Display at City Hall
The 50th Season Committee - Sara Pagones (Chair), Jan Barbero, Jack Cerny, Kit McLellan, Don Redman, and Margaret
Rennie - gathered an impressive display of artifacts, highlighting the 50 year history of Slidell Little Theatre. The
items were on display in the Slidell Cultural Gallery in City Hall on July 13th through July 27th. Scrapbooks, costume
pieces, props, posters, program, photos, and many other items told the story of our history. If you missed it, don’t
worry…...many of the items will be on display in the theatre lobby during the season.
great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy
Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in
sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important
one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that
make each of us different and special. Presented through special
arrangement with MTI. Tickets will be on sale (only $10 - general
