FROM THE CEO<br />

of games and shows. SYS also partnered with<br />

the Asia Dive Exhibition (ADEX) which ran<br />

concurrently at the SUNTEC Exhibition Centre,<br />

providing shuttle bus to connect the two<br />

venues. We were also delighted to welcome<br />

back the on-water Demonstration Platform,<br />

where a range of spectacular toys were<br />

available to be ‘tried and tested’ by some of<br />

the more daring spectators; such engagement<br />

is immensely valuable to the atmosphere of<br />

SYS.<br />

The Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) <strong>2017</strong><br />

confirmed the event’s status as the most<br />

important marine show in South East Asia, and<br />

further developed Singapore’s reputation as<br />

the boating business hub of the region. This<br />

was helped by better weather than in previous<br />

years, and the first-class venue that is ONE˚15<br />

Marina Sentosa Cove. Representatives of<br />

many of the world’s leading brands chose to<br />

exhibit in force, and were happy later to report<br />

an increased number of visitors over 2016, an<br />

increase in the quality of those visitors and,<br />

ultimately, good sales figures and improved<br />

‘further prospects’.<br />

The Show attracted exceptionally strong<br />

representation from the highest-profile<br />

dealers, many of them presenting both<br />

regional and world premières, reflecting the<br />

strategic importance of SYS to so many of the<br />

exhibitors.<br />

In addition to the in-water show, SYS <strong>2017</strong><br />

presented a greatly expanded number of<br />

family-friendly activities over the four days,<br />

including a children’s playground and plenty<br />

The social programme was second-to-none:<br />

immediately after the Asia Pacific Yachting<br />

Conference, SYS celebrated the best-of-thebest<br />

Asia Boating Awards, and those with<br />

sufficient stamina went straight on to the<br />

Singapore Yacht Show Welcome Party. Over<br />

the next four days, a whole catalogue of<br />

dealers’ receptions, VIP parties, fashion shows,<br />

supercar parades and the SYS & Yisin Chinese<br />

Regal Night took place. Aside from the formal<br />

functions, visitors were well catered for by<br />

food & beverage outlets in the pavilions, in<br />

the marina, on the boardwalk and all along<br />

Quayside Isle where guests and industry<br />

professionals were able to meet, relax, and<br />

discuss in the restaurants and bars and any<br />

number of pop-up concept bars as well.<br />

The Singapore Yacht Show team is delighted<br />

to have been the architect of an immensely<br />

successful event, staged in a world class venue,<br />

and putting South East Asia ever more firmly<br />

on the global yachting map.<br />

THE <strong>SINGAPORE</strong> <strong>YACHT</strong><br />

<strong>SHOW</strong> <strong>2017</strong><br />

presented more premières than ever before, and the new popup<br />

dining area on the boardwalk was a focal point of the Show.<br />

The party programme seemed almost endless, both private<br />

and open, underscoring SYS’s ability to connect buyers and<br />

sellers through social events in sophisticated surroundings.<br />

DEBUTS<br />

More global yacht builders chose the<br />

Singapore Yacht Show as the launch<br />

platform for their regional debuts, with over<br />

20 new models on display for the first time.<br />

Princess, Jeanneau (Boat Lagoon Yachting),<br />

Beneteau Gran Turismo and Beneteau’s<br />

Oceanis Yacht 62 (Simpson Marine), Leopard<br />

Catamarans, Azimut, Cranchi and Boston<br />

Whaler (Hong Seh Marine), Ferretti and<br />

Pershing (Ferretti Asia-Pacific and Hong Seh<br />

Marine), and Sunreef Catamarans all presented<br />

brand new out-of-the-box boats. SYS was also<br />

the venue of the world première of Charley,<br />

a 51m superyacht support vessels from Echo<br />

Yachts.<br />

Completing the ‘big boats’ line up were the 65m<br />

Ambrosia from Benetti, and the astonishing<br />

77m Silver Fast by SilverYachts from Western<br />

Australia. The combination of size, novelty,<br />

and social events was a perfect demonstration<br />

of what a yacht show should be – a coming<br />

together of all the elements that contribute to<br />

the luxury boating lifestyle.<br />

SYS & YISIN CHINESE<br />

REGAL NIGHT<br />

No show in China attracts the sort of boats<br />

that SYS has on display, making this the<br />

perfect platform to introduce the yachting<br />

lifestyle to select China VIPs. After just two<br />

years the Chinese Regal Night has become<br />

a major fixture on the SYS programme to<br />

the delight of all those involved, organisers<br />

and guests alike.<br />

VIP LOUNGE<br />

During the Singapore Yacht Show, special<br />

guests were invited to take time out in the<br />

VIP Lounge, which featured the Diageo World<br />

Class Bar, fabulous sounds via AV Intelligence<br />

audio equipment as well as Singapore’s most<br />

comfortable lounging furniture and accessories<br />

from Singapore-based furniture designer Sam &<br />

Sara with their brand new ipse ipsa ipsum range.<br />

There was even an eclectic array of Moritz<br />

Grossmann watches on display with experts<br />

on-hand for visitors to discover the range. The<br />

perfect venue to unwind!<br />

<strong>YACHT</strong> PARTIES<br />

It really was “parties, parties, parties” for four nights in a row. Every evening there were receptions held<br />

by Azimut Yachts, Ferretti Group, Princess Yachts, Simpson Marine, and Sunreef Yachts. Sunseeker<br />

threw Happy Hours, and the beer tokens nearly ran out at Sevenstar Yacht Transport. Then there were<br />

the exclusive soirées on board Silverfast, Ocean Emerald, Ambrosia and Charley for invited guests.<br />

The docks were buzzing: social events are invaluable in bringing together buyers and sellers, and<br />

SYS provided the opportunity for exhibitors to entertain and network with clients in a sophisticated<br />

ambience. Everyone’s dance card was full, every night.<br />

CAR CLUBS<br />

SYS is a magnet for car enthusiasts as well<br />

as boat lovers. The <strong>2017</strong> Show hosted car<br />

clubs from Ferrari and Lamborghini, and<br />

the car owners and drivers were treated<br />

to an unique and in person look at some<br />

of the superyachts on display as well as<br />

special access to all areas of the Show.<br />

ON-WATER<br />

PLATFORM<br />

Seeing is believing, but experiencing is so<br />

much better. SYS teamed up with Ola Beach<br />

Club and Red Paddle to present hands-on<br />

and interactive demonstrations of kayaks,<br />

motorised jet surfs, paddleboards and the<br />

exhilarating water-jetpack.<br />

COMO SHAMBHALA<br />

WORKSHOPS<br />

Breathe and stretch for a little peace, quiet,<br />

and healthy living among all the hedonism,<br />

when COMO Shambhala presented three<br />

exclusive workshops on board the 25m<br />

catamaran, Lady QuikGlow. Guests had the<br />

choice of: ‘Meditatation’ with Per van Spall;<br />

‘Nutrition’ by Eve Persak; ‘Yoga and Pilates’<br />

from Joyce Liew and Lorenzo Augustus<br />

Tay.<br />

POP-UP BARS AND<br />

DINING AREA<br />

Hot? Hungry? Thirsty? The extensive<br />

selection of pop-up bars and restaurants<br />

on The Esplanade had something for<br />

everyone, from ice cream to sizzling<br />

sausages, and from cocktails to cold-brew<br />

coffee. The whole area near the main ramp<br />

to the docks was a focal point of the Show,<br />

a meeting-and-greeting place that nobody<br />

could miss.<br />

Silver Fast<br />

SILVER<strong>YACHT</strong>S’ presence at SYS was<br />

unmissable with its impressive 77m<br />

Silver Fast on display. The Espen<br />

Øino-designed motoryacht has a<br />

sleek, aerodynamic hull form and<br />

superstructure that is characteristic<br />

of the shipyard. She is the largest<br />

vessel to be built by SilverYachts to<br />

date, and was also the largest yacht<br />

ever to be displayed at the Singapore<br />

Yacht Show.<br />

Benetti Yacht’s<br />

Ambrosia<br />

The Italian powerhouse, Benetti<br />

Yachts, is one of the oldest builders<br />

of luxury motoryachts in the world<br />

and is known for producing vessels<br />

of timeless Italian styling and<br />

construction elegance. The 65m M/Y<br />

Ambrosia was no exception at SYS<br />

with traditional elegant lines, her six<br />

deck levels, and exterior lines, are<br />

sleek and well-proportioned while<br />

maintaining her strong sense of<br />

identity and power.<br />

Boat Lagoon Yachting, was once<br />

again the largest exhibitor at the<br />

Simpson Marine, one of SYS’ longeststanding<br />

exhibitors returned to the<br />

Show with several leading brands<br />

including the Beneteau Oceanis Yacht<br />

62 and the Beneteau Gran Turismo<br />

46 both of which made their Asian<br />

premiere. The Lagoon 620 Essence<br />

and the Monte Carlo 6 both made<br />

their Singapore debuts, while firmfavourite,<br />

the Lagoon 450 was also<br />

on display.<br />

Charley’s Premiere<br />

– Echo Yachts<br />

The 46m tri-deck catamaran Charley<br />

made her world premiere at SYS<br />

having recently been delivered to<br />

her owner by Echo Yachts. Equipped<br />

with a wide array of tenders and toys,<br />

a touch-and-go helicopter pad, dive<br />

store, decompression chamber and<br />

specialist sonar equipment for wreck<br />

diving expeditions, she is the largest<br />

composite resin infused vessel to be<br />

built in Australia to date.<br />

Ferretti Group<br />

In partnership with its local dealer,<br />

Hong Seh Marine, the Ferretti Group<br />

showcased five yachts at SYS, three<br />

of which made their regional debut;<br />

the brand-new Ferretti 450, the<br />

Ferretti 700 and the Pershing 5X,<br />

alongside the Riva Venere 75 and<br />

Riva 56. With Ferretti’s biggest ever<br />

display at the Singapore Yacht Show<br />

there was certainly something for<br />

everyone!<br />

Hong Seh Marine<br />

Long-time supporter of SYS, and<br />

resident of ONE°15 Marina Sentosa<br />

Cove, Hong Seh Marine presented<br />

some of Italy’s finest production<br />

boats. They displayed a wide-range<br />

of the Ferretti Group brands’ pleasure<br />

vessels alongside the Cranchi Z35<br />

which made her Asian debut, as did<br />

the unsinkable legend, Boston Whaler<br />

370 Outrage.<br />

Leopard Catamarans<br />

Leopard Catamarans returned with<br />

four vessels, making this edition of<br />

SYS their largest showing to date.<br />

A testament to the brand’s strength<br />

and popularity in the South East<br />

Asian market, Leopard Catamarans<br />

showcased the Leopard 40 sailing<br />

and the 45 Powercat both of which<br />

made their regional premieres. In<br />

addition, two new models were<br />

also on display, the 48 Sail and 51<br />

Powercat.<br />

Sunseeker<br />

We welcomed Sunseeker back to SYS<br />

with an on-water hospitality lounge<br />

and the Manhattan 55. Visitors had<br />

the chance to experience the finest<br />

in British craftsmanship first hand,<br />

and relax in their expansive lounge to<br />

learn about the full range of models<br />

available.<br />

Azimut<br />

Azimut Singapore returned to SYS<br />

with a prominent central location<br />

in the marina to display a range of<br />

yachts from 43ft to 95ft. Azimut’s<br />

five-strong line-up included the<br />

Azimut 95, which made its debut at<br />

the Show and she proved to be a real<br />

head-turner.<br />

Sunreef Yachts<br />

Sunreef Yachts returned once again<br />

with another premiere! This year<br />

together with the Sunreef Supreme<br />

68 Eagle Wings, we saw the premiere<br />

of the custom Sunreef 62. The<br />

Sunreef 62 Annette 2, a universal sail<br />

catamaran provided both luxury and<br />

exceptional sailing performance. She<br />

was ordered by a Singaporean owner<br />

and boasts generous living spaces<br />

and a contemporary marine look.<br />

SG Boating<br />

and Maritimo<br />

Long-time supporters of SYS, SG<br />

Boating returned with a line-up of<br />

prestigious Asian premiers including<br />

the Pursuit 335, Maritimo 70 and<br />

47 and Searay 260 and 190. The<br />

company is the official Maritimo<br />

dealer, so teamed up with the yard to<br />

present the two Maritimo premieres<br />

The Galeon 460<br />

Showcased at SYS for the first time,<br />

the Galeon 460 was presented by<br />

Asia Marine.<br />

A yacht at the forefront of innovation<br />

technologies, charting a new<br />

direction for modular luxury crafts,<br />

this boat featured an adjustable<br />

sundeck, a rotating cockpit area<br />

and great entertainment space, she<br />

certainly sparked interest among<br />

show visitors!<br />

Ocean Emerald<br />

M/Y Ocean Emerald, the 41m charter<br />

yacht which featured in the cult film,<br />

Point Break, appeared at SYS for<br />

the first time. With her minimalist<br />

interior, oversized sundeck, Jacuzzi<br />

and retractable swim platform, she<br />

was a major social focus with all of<br />

the parties that took place on board<br />

every night.<br />

Riviera & Reel Torque<br />

Riviera, in partnership with Reel<br />

Torque Yachts in Singapore exhibited<br />

the Riviera 57 Enclosed Bridge and<br />

the Riviera 54 Sport Yacht which<br />

made her Asian premiere at SYS.<br />

A BUSINESS PLATFORM<br />

The APYC is the number one occasion in Asia for marine leisure<br />

industry professionals to meet, talk, be informed, and exchange<br />

views. A series of presentations and forums with speakers from<br />

Europe, the UK, Australia and countries within the ASEAN region<br />

covered the state of the yachting industry in Asia. Discussions to the<br />

further development of the industry and how this may be effected,<br />

from governmental policies and concerns to matters of private<br />

infrastructure.<br />

In between the formal sessions, delegates took the opportunity to<br />

The two-day Asia Boating Forum, presented in association with<br />

ICOMIA, provided a well-focused snapshot of the current state of<br />

the boating industry throughout Asia – an area bigger than the<br />

Mediterranean and the Caribbean combined. Speakers came from<br />

Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam. Delegates also discussed<br />

pan-regional topics including pollution and regulation, and the<br />

developmental role of Marine Industry Associates, with particular<br />

reference to governmental communication.<br />

The Asia Boating Forum provides the marine industry with a unique<br />

opportunity to connect and develop a unified approach to marine<br />
