Bayou City Art Festival Downtown<br />

Announces Requests for Volunteers<br />

October 14-15, <strong>2017</strong><br />

The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA) is in need of volunteers for Bayou<br />

City Art Festival Downtown on Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15,<br />

<strong>2017</strong>. Volunteers have the option of choosing various roles and shifts for<br />

either or both days. Shifts for Friday afternoon and evening will also be<br />

available for artist check-in and festival load-in.<br />

Let's Get Cooking at the <strong>2017</strong> Harris<br />

County Fair Food Wrangler Challenge<br />

3 rd Annual Harris County Fair “Food Wrangler Challenge” October<br />

19 th , 5- 8:30 PM at TX A&M AgriLife Extension, 3033 Bear Creek Drive,<br />

Houston, TX 77084.<br />

Food Wrangler is a chance for youth to show off their culinary skills!<br />

Teams compete for prizes and honors in two age divisions Junior/<br />

Intermediate for grades 3 rd to 8 th and Senior level for youth grades 9 th<br />

to 12 th as of <strong>September</strong> 1, <strong>2017</strong>. Registration is $40 per team includes<br />

meal for coaches and participates.<br />

Register now on Eventbrite. Deadline is October 10 th . Youth<br />

participants must be a member of a Harris County FFA or FCCLA<br />

groups or a Harris County 4-H member. Rules are posted on the Harris<br />

November 4, <strong>2017</strong>, 6-9 PM<br />

Villagio Town Center<br />

We will have many food, wine and other vendors, which make this event<br />

an enjoyable evening while raising awareness of The Ballard House<br />

and what we provide to those in need of a place to stay while receiving<br />

medical treatments in the Houston area.<br />

The festival offers volunteers the opportunity to make new friends and<br />

meet artists from around the country. After every shift, volunteers will<br />

be entered in a raffle and have the chance to win prizes, including gift<br />

cards to local restaurants, movie and museum tickets. All volunteers will<br />

receive a t-shirt and be able to enjoy the festival at no cost before and<br />

after their shift. The minimum age to sign up is 13 and group volunteering<br />

is also available. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can sign up<br />

here.<br />

Bayou City Art Festival will be held under the iconic Houston Downtown<br />

skyline, 10 AM - 6 PM. The festival will spotlight more than 300 artists from<br />

19 different disciplines and benefit local non-profits. Online tickets are<br />

on sale now until the day of the event at www.artcolonyassociation.org.<br />

Tickets online are $12 for adults and $5 for children 6-12; children five<br />

and under are free. Tickets at the gate are $15 for adults. Also available<br />

online are two-day passes for $20 and family passes (two adults, two<br />

children tickets) for $30. Discounted tickets for Veterans and Seniors will<br />

be available at the gate.<br />
