david dePerthes, PhD, Founder and CEO,
Dermadis SAS (France) and Med Discovery (Switzerland)
main founder and ceo of Dermadis, Dr . Deperthes obtained
his Ph .D . in molecular and cellular biology from
laval University in canada in 1996 . After his discovery
of a new prostate cancer marker, the kallikrein KLK2, together
with Prof . Rolland R . Tremblay, he specialized in
the development of biologics and kallikrein research. In
2000 he created and directed the Urology Research Unit
(URU) at the lausanne University Hospital, lausanne,
Switzerland . In 2002, Dr Deperthes founded another
biotech company, med Discovery, for which he raised
over 12 m . Dr Deperthes is also an expert advisor to
WIPo in licensing and business Innovation, board member

Duane Schulthess is the commercial Director of
Science|business . Prior to this, he was head of corporate
development for The Wall Street Journal, for europe,
the middle east and Africa, where he developed a series
of successful digital products . For 11 years, he was the
executive Director of a minneapolis-based not-for-profit
ICE that combined ground-breaking technologies with
music and performance . Duane was a fellowship student
at the Royal Academy of music in london, has a
bA magna cum laude from the University of the Pacific,
and an MBA with Distinction from The Vlerick School of
management at KU leuven where he has been a contributing
member of the international steering committee .
euGene cloete, Dean of the Faculty of Science,
Stellenbosch University, South Africa
Professor eugene cloete joined Stellenbosch University
as Dean of the Faculty of Science in 2009 from the
University of Pretoria (UP) where he served as Head of
microbiology and Plant Pathology, Faculty of natural and
Agricultural Sciences, and chairperson of the School of
biological Sciences . Prof cloete is the Founding Director
of the UP Water Institute, and past Vice-President and
board member of the International Water Association
(IWA) . In 2005, he was appointed as chairman of the
IWA Strategic council for three years . He is a Senior
fellow of the Water Institute of South Africa, a fellow
of the IWA and a fellow of the American Academy of

FerGal clarke, Director, IP Strategy at Rambus
Fergal Clarke is the Director of IP Strategy at Rambus,
one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies
. Rambus has been a leader for more than fifteen
years in the invention and design of high-performance
semiconductor chip to chip interfaces and memory interfaces
in particular . Fergal has been with Rambus since
2006 and previously worked with Applied Materials
in IP business management and technology development
. Fergal received his mbA from the Hass School of

Gerard Pannekoek is the President and Chief Executive
officer of IPxI Holdings . He has over 25 years of diverse

Mr. Pannekoek was the founder and Chief Operating
officer of the chicago climate exchange (ccx) which
became the world’s first market for reducing and trading
greenhouse gas emissions . Prior to IPxI Holdings, he

gideon Kunda is an Associate Professor at the department
of labor Studies at Tel Aviv University . He received
his Ph .D . in management and organization Studies from
the Sloan School of management at mIT in 1987 and

from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . He has served
as the director of the Institute for Social Research at Tel

University
gregory D . graff is a professor in the department of
Agricultural and Resource economics at colorado State
University with interests in intellectual property and technology
development policies in the life sciences . Prior to
joining the faculty at colorado State, Dr . graff helped
to found PIPRA (the Public Sector Intellectual Property
Resource for Agriculture) . Dr . graff has been a lecturer at
UC Berkeley and the UC Davis and has published widely,
including articles in Science, nature biotechnology, the
Review of economics and Statistics, World Development,
the American Journal of Agricultural economics, and the
california management Review, and chapters in numerous
books. He is currently collaborating with CIP on a

göran calås is Intellectual Property office, Security
and Defence Solutions at Saab Ab – a business area
providing security and training solutions to defenceand

design, in 1994 he started writing patent applications,

Dr . Hans Persson is the Senior Vice President, Technology
& Innovation, at Volvo Technology – a global research and
innovation company with about 500 employees, belonging
to the Volvo group . He received his PhD in atomic
physics in 1993 and his docent title in physics in 1996 .
From 2001 he was the manager for the Data Fusion
group at ericsson and later the general manager for the
Surveillance System department . In 2004 he started at
Volvo Technology as manager for the Transport Services
group . In 2007 he became Innovation Director of Volvo

Qatar Foundation’s Science leadership Program . ms . Alghanim
comes from a long -line of entrepreneurs and is
active in the development of innovation and entrepreneurship

Helena l nilsson is the Director of research and development
at the department of regional development at
Region Västra Götaland (VGR), where she works with
regional development issues in collaboration with universities,
companies and social actors . VgR’s primary focus
is on future issues of skills, innovation and research.
Ms. Nilsson has a background in the field of international
economic geography and has experience of working
within institutions, public and private sectors . She is also
involved as a policy expert on national and european
R&D programs .
henric rhedin, Division Manager, Commercial
Research & Development, Chalmers Industriteknik
Henric Rhedin has since 2002 headed the largest unit at
chalmers Industrial Technologies (cIT), Sweden´s oldest
technology transfer organization, dating back to 1984. The
unit, commercial R&D, employs 35 people out of a total
of 75 people employed by cIT, and provides expertise in
all kinds of areas of technology including technology management
and related services . In addition to this, Henric is
active in innovation system networks on the national as
well as on the international level including Association of
Science and Technology Transfer Professional (ASTP), HeP
TTN a CERN centered network for technology transfer
activities for high energy physics, and Swedish Network

Henrik Olsson is the Global Director Intellectual
Property for the Volvo group . His responsibilities include
patents, design rights, and trademarks. He joined
the Volvo Group in 2010. Before working with Volvo, he
worked with SKF from 2004–2010 as patent manager in
combination with a group responsibility for Intellectual
Asset management (IAm) at SKF . He also has experience
working with several IP law firms. Henrik has a degree in

Jostein Dalland is the ceo of Inven2, a technology transfer

medinnova . Jostein Dalland over 15 years of executive
experience from the high-tech industry, including being
the ceo of a publicly listed biotech company, executive
Vice President at the industry conglomerate Aker, and
Vice President at Orkla ASA. From this he has extensive
experience working with universities on sophisticated
R&D programs and licensing IPR from technology transfer
