EXECUTIVE SUMMARY<br />
B&Q is the leading home improvement and garden centre retailer in Europe and the third largest<br />
globally. It operates more than 60 stores internationally, including B&Q Beijing, which is now the<br />
largest B&Q store in the world. The business currently has 350 stores in the UK, and eight stores in<br />
the Republic of Ireland. B&Q offers around 40,000 inspirational home improvement and garden<br />
products across a multi-channel platform. Its customers include all manner of homemakers,<br />
occasional to serious DIY'ers, and trade professionals.<br />
B&Q is part of Kingfisher plc, a FTSE 100 company. Kingfisher is one of the UK’s most respected<br />
retail groups. It has 1,130 stores across nine countries in Europe and Asia. Its main retail brands<br />
are B&Q, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, and Screwfix.<br />
B&Q is currently looking to appoint a Property <strong>Facilities</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>. This is a business critical role,<br />
reporting to the company’s Director of Property. As <strong>Facilities</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> you will be tasked with<br />
developing and implementing both a short and long term (five year) FM strategy. The appointed<br />
candidate will be expected to understand the Retail trading environment and the needs of internal<br />
customer, as well as being resilient and determined to deliver in a challenging environment.<br />

ROLE DESCRIPTION<br />
B&Q is currently looking to appoint a Property <strong>Facilities</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>. This is a business critical role,<br />
reporting to the company’s Director of Property. As <strong>Facilities</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> you will be tasked with<br />
developing and implementing both a short and long term (five year) FM strategy. You will inherit<br />
a team of approximately 25, engaging and leading them to deliver a customer focused Property<br />
FM service to stores and SSO (Store Support Office) that meets customer requirements, delivers<br />
best value and protects the future value of the estate.<br />

understanding the internal customer requirements and developing key relationships to deliver a<br />
comprehensive FM service;<br />
developing and maintaining a long term FM strategy for the maintenance and replacement of property<br />
assets recognising whole life costs, ROI, CSR and cost reduction across stores and SSO;<br />
delivering a programme of major FM capital works programme in line with strategy and managing time,<br />
cost, quality outputs;<br />
providing a reactive service for property related incidents and issues, managing and providing solutions for<br />
repair or replacement to ensure H&S, Security, light and heat, Brand and continuity of trade are protected;<br />
managing the external FM helpdesk, ensuring high standards are met and maintained;<br />
accountability for SSO contracts through the team to ensure that SSO contracts (e.g. catering, cleaning,<br />
security) are deliveredto a high standard and to drive change where needed<br />
managing and reporting on financial metrics to include revenue and capital budgets to maximise impact<br />
and delivery;<br />
ensuring the safety of the B&Q estate from Property related activities to include contractor safety, statutory<br />
testing and maintenance requirements and functional safety systems such as fire, roofs and sprinklers;<br />
producing MI in relation to energy/water consumption reporting and awareness.<br />

SOUTHAMPTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA<br />
South<strong>amp</strong>ton is an attractive University town, and a place of enormous historical, cultural,<br />
commercial and geographical significance. As the largest city in the county of H<strong>amp</strong>shire, it is<br />
arguably the most important town on Britain’s south coast. It lies within easy reach of Winchester,<br />
Salisbury, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight, and is situated only 75 miles (121 km)<br />
from London. South<strong>amp</strong>ton International Airport is just three miles from B&Q’s Head Offices in<br />
Eastleigh. It operates flights to several major European destinations.<br />
Within the city itself, you will encounter the West Quay Centre, a vast, appealingly-designed<br />
shopping complex, and Ocean Village, a smaller, more intimate development built around the<br />
marina, with shops, restaurants and modern residences. There are two top-flight professional<br />
theatres, The Nuffield and The Mayflower, which stage plays, opera, ballet, musicals, and rock<br />
concerts, as well as two multiplex cinemas and several other single-screen venues. On the sporting<br />
scene, there is an indoor swimming centre, tennis courts all over the town, a public golf course,<br />
and, of course, a Premiership football team and the H<strong>amp</strong>shire Cricket team at the Ageas Bowl.<br />
For those that like the outdoors, you have picturesque beaches, which are all in close proximity,<br />
and the New Forest, just a short drive away.<br />
