Family Day<br />
Nowra<br />
The aim of National Families Week (15-21 May coinciding with the United Nations International Day of<br />
Families on 15 May) is to celebrate the vital role that families play in Australian society. The enduring<br />
theme is: “Stronger families, stronger communities’’. This theme highlights the important role families play<br />
as the central building block of our community and that community wellbeing is enhanced by family wellbeing.<br />
To celebrate this event in the Shoalhaven<br />
area, Nowra SDA Church printed invitations<br />
and letterboxed in the local streets<br />
around the church for a special program<br />
on Saturday 20 May. Commencing with<br />
a free Kids Breakfast at 9:30 am with craft<br />
and story activities, followed by a family<br />
church service from 11:00 am to 12:30 am<br />
the program concluded with a free buffet<br />
lunch served in the cottage next to the<br />
church.<br />
Church members had invited non-attending<br />
family members and friends to this<br />
special family church service. Highlights of<br />
the service included musical items, story<br />
time and family group participation.<br />
During the devotional segments emphasis<br />
was placed on making God an integral part<br />
of your family and in your decision making.<br />
