“This also meant that the equipment wouldn’t<br />

return until two weeks after the event, so we<br />

were to be without it for nearly seven weeks,”<br />

Katie explains. “As all equipment was coming<br />

with us from Birmingham we had to ensure we<br />

didn’t leave anything behind and could provide<br />

everything needed for the JCB stand.” This<br />

included all ovens and necessary kitchen<br />

equipment such as plates, napkins and cups.<br />

During the seven-day event Amadeus served<br />

drinks all day, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon<br />

snacks plus evening drink receptions with beer,<br />

pretzels and sausages. As well as the event<br />

catering and keeping the JCB team fuelled,<br />

Amadeus also had the customer café open daily.<br />

The lunch menu included soup of<br />

the day, plates of cured<br />

meats and pickles and<br />

the typical German<br />

offering of Weisswurst<br />

with pretzels and sweet<br />

mustard. Snacks included pretzels,<br />

Kuchen (selection of cakes) and<br />

Platzchen (cookies). A highlight for many was<br />

a Bavarian buffet offered in the VIP Hospitality<br />

Restaurant with dishes such as veal schnitzel<br />

with lemon and capers and Kaespatzle (potato<br />

noodles with cheese). It was important that<br />

local dishes were offered and the time and<br />

research spent before the trade show was<br />

clearly worth it.<br />

The event was a success and Caroline<br />

Clacher, JCB’s Worldwide Events Manager<br />

explains how Amadeus performed as a caterer<br />

and food consultant. “We needed a VIP<br />

dining experience for customers<br />

visiting us at Bauma 2016. Our<br />

previous experience of Amadeus had<br />

left us with the confidence that they<br />

could deliver the brief. Exhibition<br />

builds are always as well planned as<br />

they can be, but working with the<br />

Amadeus team was a successful<br />

partnership that resulted in a very<br />

smooth planning process. They<br />

took time to understand our needs<br />

and made site visits to ensure an<br />

authentic menu was delivered.”<br />

The role of Amadeus is to<br />

take care of and event manage all<br />

catering requirements. Looking<br />

after both JCB employees and<br />

customers allowed JCB to<br />

focus their attention on<br />

delivering a successful event. The service<br />

style allowed for ‘high-end’ meals for VIP<br />

guests and ensured all guests received the<br />

same standard of food. This level of quality<br />

control is what often makes Amadeus stand<br />

out amongst the rest.<br />

Katie’s highlight of the event was<br />

working as a team to deliver such<br />

a successful event. “It was a<br />

privilege working on such a<br />

prestigious event and to take<br />

Amadeus on to the continent.<br />

trade fairs in the world, Amadeus demonstrated<br />

they can provide delicious catering on grand<br />

scales both on home soil and abroad. It was<br />

hard work but the team showed their ability,<br />

skill and the collaboration needed for an<br />

event like this. The future now brings with<br />

it more opportunities to cater at various<br />

international locations.<br />

On a peak day in the customer café,<br />

960 bottles of coke were consumed<br />

within a two-and-a-half hour period<br />
