PIÚ SPORTIVI
CHE MAI!
Il 2017 segna il nostro maggior impegno
sui campi di gara, pista e off-road. Quest’anno
abbiamo attivato sponsorship importanti,
portando il nostro marchio a svettare
sulle moto e sulle tute di piloti
impegnati in svariate specialità del mondo
motociclistico.
Un’accelerazione presumibilmente difficile
da comprendere da parte di chi vede
GIVI esclusivamente come il marchio che
produce accessori e valigie per l’utenza
cittadina e per il turismo.
La professionalità che distingue il mondo
motociclistico professionistico da
quello di tutti i giorni noi la mettiamo
nella produzione dei nostri prodotti.
Puntare in alto fa parte della nostra
mission.
Il messaggio che vogliamo dare con la
nostra presenza nei massimi Campionati
su due ruote si lega anche ad un altro
concetto: quello che in USA chiamano
“give back”. Chi sceglie i nostri prodotti
ci permette di “reinvestire” negli sport
motociclistici e di conseguenza sostenerli.
Senza contare che la nostra storia attinge
le proprie origini proprio dal circuito.
Prima di diventare imprenditore mio
padre, Giuseppe Visenzi, correva nel
Motomondiale. Nella piccola officina
sotto casa si preparava le moto da solo
e nel corso della sua carriera, durata dal
1959 al 1970, ha collezionato podii e
posizioni importanti in classifica. Lasciate
le gare mio padre aprì un negozietto
e successivamente una piccola produzione
di accessori (iniziata con un paramotore);
nel 1978 è arrivato il primo
bauletto con il marchio GIVI… il resto
della storia è piuttosto nota e il punto
d’arrivo è sotto gli occhi di tutti.
Allestire una moto per un viaggio o per
rendere confortevoli i trasferimenti casa
lavoro è sicuramente lontano dal minimalismo
strutturale delle moto da corsa,

dove l’aerodinamica e il peso concorrono
in modo sensibile sulle prestazioni… ma
vi assicuro che la nostra passione per la
pista, dagli Anni 70 a oggi, ha continuato
ad aleggiare e i nostri colori non
hanno mai smesso di “frequentare” il
paddock.
La presenza di GIVI nella massima categoria
è legata a doppio filo a Lucio Cecchinello
con il quale abbiamo un rapporto
di amicizia che dura da decenni. Prima
di diventare Team Manager Lucio correva
già con il nostro logo sulla carena
(la prima volta sul tracciato di Eastern
Creek in Australia). La partnership si è
poi consolidata con la nascita della LCR
HONDA, nel 1996, ed è continuata fino
ad oggi: lo scorso anno, ad Assen, abbiamo
festeggiato i 250 Gran Premi insieme!
Sempre in MotoGP, nel 2016 abbiamo
“ceduto” al fascino della Ducati, accordo
rinnovato anche quest’anno, e prima
ancora siamo entrati ufficialmente, come
sponsor del team HCR Rally, nella più
avventurosa competizione mondiali in
fuoristrada, la Dakar.
E’ stata la grande visibilità offerta dalla
MotoGP a farci riflettere sull’opportunità
di far parte anche di “altre famiglie”,
comprese quelle al top in ambito fuoristrada.
Non ci siamo fatti pregare: seguire
questa strada ha liberato ulteriormente
la nostra passione.
Il quadro generale delle nostre attività
“sportive” è oggetto dell’articolo di apertura
di questo numero del Magazine:
iniziamo con un lunga e intensa intervista
con il campione turco Kenan Sofuoglu,
il pilota più titolato del mondiale
SuperSport, per poi proseguire presentando
i team e i piloti sponsorizzati GIVI
per la stagione 2017.

THAN EVER!
2017 is a year which marks our major involvement in racing both
on the track and “off-road”. This year we’ve mobilised many important
sponsors, who have taken our branding and used it on
motorcycles and on racesuits worn by the riders committed to
various disciplines within the motorcycling world. This is a step
which could be hard to fathom by those who see GIVI as a brand
producing accessories for city-life and bags / cases for touring.
The expertise that distinguishes the professional motorcycling
world from that of every-day life, is exactly what we employ in the
production of our products. Aiming high is part of our mission. The
message we want to convey with our presence in major two-wheel
championships is also linked to another concept: in the USA it is
called “give back”. Those who choose our products allow us to reinvest
in and support motorcycling sports.
Not forgetting that the story of GIVI originated on the racing circuit.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, my Father, Giuseppe Visenzi,
raced in the MotoGP World Championship. He used to repair his
motorcycle himself in the little workshop under our house and
during his career, which lasted from 1959 all the way to 1970, he
earned numerous podium places and important positions on the
leader board. After quitting racing, my Father opened a small shop
and later started a small business producing accessories (which
began with an engine guard); in 1978 the first GIVI case was born…
the rest is history and the finish line is there for all to see.
Setting up a motorcycle for a trip or ensuring that commuting
to work is comfortable, is completely different to the minimalist
structure of a racing motorcycle where aerodynamics and weight
contribute to performance.…however I can assure you that our
passion for racing, from the ‘70s ‘till today, has continued to linger
and our colours have never stopped being present in the paddock.
In the highest category of racing, GIVI is proudly linked with Lucio
Cecchiello who has been a real friend for decades. Before becoming
Team Manager, Lucio already raced with our logo on his
fairing (the first time was on the Eastern Creek track in Australia).
Our partnership was consolidated with the birth of the LCR HON-
DA Team, in 1996, and has been ongoing until today: last year, in
Assen, we celebrated 250 years of Grand Prix together!
It was also during the MotoGP last year that we “surrendered” to
the charm of Ducati, renewing our agreement for 2017. Previously
we were able to officially feature as a sponsor for the HCR Rally
team, during the world’s most adventurous off-road race, the
Dakar.
The great visibility achieved with MotoGP made us consider the
opportunity to be part of “other families”, including those at the
top of the “off-road” field. We needed no convincing: following this
path has unleashed our passion even further!
The opening article of the latest magazine issue features the general
framework of our “sporting” activities: we begin with a long
and in-depth interview with the Turkish champion Kenan Sofuoglu,
the award-winning rider of SuperSport, and further into it the
issue, we present the riders being sponsored by GIVI during the
2017 season.
