WELCOME TO THE
MERRIMACK VALLEY YMCA
Every day the Y’s impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice,
when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for a
common good. As a 501(C) (3) volunteer-founded, volunteer-led organization
the intent is to foster social connectedness, strengthen support networks, and
encourage investment in our communities, which in turn serves to strengthen
the foundations of our community. This is all done at no cost to the neighboring
cities and towns thereby lessening the burdens of government.
Membership dues support everyday operations. However, the Merrimack
Valley YMCA endeavors to secure grants and conduct annual fundraising
campaigns and events, in order to provide financial assistance, charitable
services, and access to people of all income levels. The Merrimack Valley
YMCA provides millions of dollars each year in essential services and financial
assistance initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living and social
responsibility aligned with the unique and diverse needs of the communities
it engages. The Y’s activities have significantly enhanced public access to
fitness, health, educational enrichment and numerous other services; especially
among children, the disabled, the homeless, the needs associated with an aging
community and other at-risk populations.
The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected
and secure children, adults, families and communities.
Access/Membership Restrictions Policy
The protection of members and guests who are participating in programs or
are using YMCA facilities is of paramount concern to the staff of the Merrimack
MY Y STORY
I LAUGH WHEN I SING
I’m Isabella and I am big and in my preschool at the Y.
My hand says I am three. I am a girl in school. I know
how to count on the calendar with my friends. I laugh
when I sing in school.
- Isabella, Preschool Program Participant
A SECOND HOME
My children, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Xavier, have been in the YMCA
for 5 years! All 3 of them play in the youth basketball league.
They love YBL and have been playing for 4 years now. YBL is
the reason they are obsessed with the YMCA. The coaches
are great and they have taught my children skills, drills, and a
foundation of good sportsmanship. The YMCA is a second
home to them, which they love!
My kids also attend the child care program and have a great
bond with all the teachers. I feel very comfortable and
confident when I leave my kids here. My kids love the summer
time with all the sports, field trips, and activities. This is a great
place for working moms to leave their children!!
- Mariel Vargas, Parent, Member Service Staff
MY SHOES ARE FAST
Hi, I am Nelson. I have brown hair, see? I am three
years old and I like to build houses with the blocks. My
school is preschool 4 and it is the Y. I run really fast
outside in the playground. My shoes are fast. My
friends run next to me and laugh.
- Nelson, Preschool Program Participant
Together we can build a better us.
Hurricane Swimming (6-18 Years)
Hurricane Swimming is a USA Swimming and
YMCA age group swim club. We compete in
local, regional and national level meets. We
offer novice, intermediate and senior level
training groups where we emphasize stroke
technique, goal setting and personal growth
through swimming. Parent volunteerism is
required at all meets. Many of our swimmers
participate year-round, but we do offer
opportunities for seasonal swimming. Our Short
Course season begins in early September and
continues through mid-March. Our Long Course
season begins in April and continues through
early-August.
Swimmers ages 9-18 who have working
knowledge of the four competitive strokes
and diving are welcome to try out. Swimmers
6-8 years old must be proficient in freestyle,
backstroke and diving in order to try out.
