to offer. Student librarians were
particularly busy during this
time, too, as several of us spent
time before school making pois
for Maori Language Week and
woven baskets in celebration of
Tongan Language Week. A very
enthusiastic and productive set of
weeks, indeed.
In addition to our successful
Pasifika language weeks, we
also enjoyed great success with
Daffodil Day, a day of fundraising
for cancer research and better
awareness of the struggles many
have to endure. Due to senior
preliminary examinations and
Daffodil Day coinciding during
week 5 of Term 3, we fundraised
a week prior to Daffodil Day.
Thanks to the assistance of our
entire group of student librarians,
we raised a respectable $333.
Though not the largest amount
we’ve raised through the years, it
is a noticeable improvement over
2015. It is very touching to see
our school unite and commit to a
worthwhile cause.
To give our Year 9's of 2017 a
taste of Mangere College life,
the library was organised to
accommodate the large group of
intermediate students who came
in and out from Sir Douglas Bader
Intermediate, Viscount School,
Koru School and Robertson Road
School. Year Nine Deans Ms Tupua
and Ms Campbell were particularly
pleased with how hospitable the
library was made for potential
students and we will see many
of their faces return early 2017.
Sweet.
2016 was a year of victory. 2017
will be a year of triumph in the
highest regard.
