digitally coloured and printed on quality art paper at 30x40cm.
You will also receive a high quality digital copy of the picture.
What a few customers have said about their portraits:
“Yay, it’s fab. I love it :) It’s exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much”
“My husband absolutely loved our portrait, he was overwhelmed by it and
hung it straight away in our kitchen! Captured us all so wonderfully”
Signature Book Publishing
Firmly establishing itself as a leading producer of personalised books,
Signature book publishing believes that children are never too young to love
reading. Their main aim with the unique books they create is to encourage
children to have fun reading. Younger children can sometimes find reading
overwhelming, particularly when starting school. Finding stories that kids will
find engaging and fun is the key to making sure they enjoy themselves. What
better way is there to encourage
them than a book that is printed
especially for them?
Each In The Book story, has your
child’s name appearing in at least
one of three places; on the cover, hidden in illustrations, or within the text.
Reading personalised books with your child is a great way to introduce the
world of literature to them. Seeing their name spelled out in icing on cakes,
written in the stars, in trees and on buses, as they read through the story gives
young children a sense of delightful mystery in a world that belongs to them.
Could fostering fill your empty nest?
At this time of year, when A-Level results are in and children have
embarked on their first steps towards independence at university, many
mums and dads may be dreading the silence of a quiet house.
For 18 years or more, parents may have lived in busy homes, so it can be a
daunting thought to imagine a family home suddenly becoming quiet and
empty. This is where Empty Nest Syndrome kicks in, which poses the question
- how can parents re-fill the nest?
Hertfordshire County Council is
appealing to ‘empty nesters’ to
consider becoming foster carers.
An ideal opportunity for any parents
finding themselves in this position is
fostering. By fostering, they can offer
a child/young person who is going
through tough times a safe and
stable home and helping them to reach their full potential. It is essential that
we can place our children locally so they can maintain their links with school,
friends and family and with your help as a foster carer, we can ensure they get
the support and guidance they deserve.
Foster carers can turn ‘empty nest syndrome’ into a positive experience whilst
making a huge difference to a young person’s life.
Anyone who fosters with us can expect unrivalled support:
• We’ll be there to guide you through the fostering process, every step of the way.
• We’ll support you with full training and a generous allowance for your
dedicated work.
• We offer 24/7 support. If you need us we’re always here to help.
• Fostering can be flexible. We’ll do what we can to make fostering work for you.
We’ll help you be the best foster carer you can be.
If you have at least one spare bedroom and would like to become a foster
carer for Hertfordshire County Council, please contact our recruitment
team on:
Children in Need – November 17th
‘Give Pudsey your round pounds’, new partnership urges. BBC Children in
Need will be partnering with The Royal Mint and HM Treasury on their £1
coin campaign, joining forces for Pudsey’s Round Pound Countdown. Kicking
off a nationwide campaign, BBC Children in Need, The Royal Mint and HM
Treasury will challenge the country to join Pudsey to hunt down the millions
of remaining round £1 coins, and put them to good use by donating to BBC
Children in Need. With less than four weeks to go before the round £1 stops
being accepted in shops and restaurants, BBC Children in Need is encouraging
everyone to check their piggy banks, empty coat pockets and dive down the
back of sofas to dig out any lurking round pound coins. There are thousands
of BBC Children in Need drop off points across the country where you can
handover your donations.
For more information on where to find them, visit www.bbc.co.uk/
Steve’s Walk
On Saturday 16th September, the employees (past and present) of
Primary Times magazine, took on the challenge of a 10K walk in memory
of their former boss Steve Edwards who very sadly passed away in
December 2016.
The ladies, joined by Shareholder Doug Ash, decided a fitting tribute (and one
that Steve would really appreciate) was to walk between two of his favourite
pubs. The walk concluded with a much appreciated pub lunch and the
ladies finished their day with an invitation to a local rugby match, where the
spectators happily boosted their fund raising.
The Primary Times ladies, and Doug! successfully raised over £2,800 for Sue
Ryder Hospice, Nettlebed. They embarked upon this fund raising day to
thank the staff of Sue Ryder for looking after Steve and his family in the most
kindest and gentlest of ways. Thanks to everyone who donated for their very
generous support.
Get ahead, stay ahead in both English and Maths
First Class Learning has
given my girls natural agility
and confidence with mental
arithmetic and the ability to
spot patterns and connections that are the key to unlocking a
mathematical mind. They are able to manipulate numbers with
increasing levels of speed, accuracy and fluency and this helps
them to meet and exceed the demands of the new National
Curriculum. In Particular, I like the way First Class Learning’s
programme is tailored to the individual needs of your child and
how it encourages the children to work independently and take
responsibility for their own learning.
I would recommend First Class Learning to any parent, as it
caters for all needs and abilities in both maths and English.
PantoLand
Pantomime season is nearly upon us once again…
Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is! Ahem…
Originally, Pantomimes weren’t just restricted to Christmas
time, but happened throughout the year, in conjunction with
religious holidays or the seasons. 200 years ago Pantomimes
were very different, being mostly centred around dancing
and music but over the years, audience participation
and the Pantomime Dames were introduced and
Panto became what it is today.
Although often considered to be a British
phenomenon, Pantomime actually developed from
the Italian commedia dell’arte tradition, involving
a part improvised, part scripted play that also paid
homage to Greek comedies that date back to 400 BC.
The idea of role reversal – a man playing the Dame and
a woman playing the principal lead character – is thought
to have its roots in Tudor tradition, where a “Feast of Fools”
celebration would be directed by a commoner. Amazingly,
this custom may have come from Rome where masters and
servants would swap roles for a short time.
Please check
details of show
times with each
venue before
booking, and have
a great time!
Despite its roots, Panto does feel like a uniquely British
phenomenon and can be baffling to those unfamiliar with it.
Apparently, Kevin Spacey (actor and director at the Old Vic
between 2003-2015) was “bewildered” by
Pantomime when he first experienced it, prompting
Sir Ian McKellen to reassure him by saying “So many
disparate elements of theatre are on display…
often stretching back to Shakespeare and the
origins of Western theatre tradition and yet
unique to Britain”. The truth is, that whilst
Panto is not a universally popular form of theatre, it
flourishes in Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and
even Jamaica, where Panto combines with
Anansi folklore.
Next time you’re at the theatre for a Pantomime and you’re
shouting “It’s behind you!!” – remember that there’s a lot
of history behind Panto too!! Most importantly – Join in
and have fun!!
