Children Give Back to Troops, Donate
Candy Operation Shoebox
Taking candy from children is
usually frowned upon, but teaching
kids the value of giving back by
donating their excess Halloween
candy in support of US Troops is
a win-win for kids, parents, and
dentists alike.
This Halloween, local trick-or-treaters
will join kids across the nation
when they bring their Halloween
candy and handwritten letters of
gratitude to Seven Lakes Family
Dentistry. The goodies will be
shipped to Operation Shoebox for
inclusion in care packages to US
Service Members deployed overseas
in harm’s way.
As a sign of appreciation for their
donation, Dr. Jennifer Massey
of Seven Lakes Family Dentistry
will pay the children $1/pound of
candy donated (up to $5) and give
each child a dental health goody
bag. Paper and markers will be
provided to write letters or drawings
to send with the candy to Service

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CANDY BUY-BACK PROGRAM
AT SEVEN LAKES FAMILY DENTISTRY
Members. The buy-back program
will be held at Dr Massey’s offi ce
on Wednesday, 11/1 and Thursday
11/2 from 3-5pm at 1064-B Seven
Lakes Drive.
Dr. Massey is proud to have served
the dental health needs of the community
since 2002. She has participated
7 years in the Halloween
Candy Buy-Back Program to reduce
excess sugar consumption, prevent
dental decay, and teach children the
importance of saying “thank you” to
those who serve.
Global sugar consumption for kids
increases by about 2% annually and
currently sits at 50 million tons per
year, which means parents need to
be sure their kids teeth are being
cared for more than ever.
Dr. Massey works hard to raise
public awareness of the benefi ts
of healthy eating and great dental
