Matthew 9:29 … According <strong>to</strong> your Faith<br />

“According <strong>to</strong> your Faith let it be done for you<br />

… and their eyes were Opened.”<br />

First & foremost, it is important <strong>to</strong> note that Jesus did not perform a miracle<br />

here (nor anywhere else in the Bible, for that matter), but rather empowered those<br />

with the requisite Faith <strong>to</strong> allow the God Essence within them (see John 14:20) <strong>to</strong><br />

heal them (see also Matthew 8:13, Matthew 9:29, Mark 5:34, Mark 9:23, Mark 10:52,<br />

Luke 7:50, Luke 8:48-52, Luke <strong>17</strong>:19, Luke 18:42, John 9:39 , John 11:4-11 et al) …<br />

Note as well that Jesus said quite plainly that even if his followers did choose <strong>to</strong><br />

believe that he was in fact healing them himself, that they were under no<br />

circumstances <strong>to</strong> tell anyone else such falsehoods (see Matthew 8:4, Matthew 9:30,<br />

Matthew 12:16, Mark 1:44, Mark 5:43, Mark 7:36, Mark 8:26, Luke 5:14 & Luke 8:56)<br />

… In addition, please remember that – for Jesus at least – Faith was a verb; not an<br />

internal thought but an external action (see John 10:37-38 & John 14:12).<br />

Also, please note that by the measure of their Faith were they healed –<br />

meaning that those who came for personal benefit only received temporary &/or<br />

partial healing, whereas those who came <strong>to</strong> be healed that they might serve others<br />

become Whole once more.<br />

And finally, note in closing that "their eyes were Opened" as a result – that<br />

they could SEE clearly once again as a result of that Faith – that they had been<br />

blinded by self-interest and sin beforehand, and yet they had been blessed by the<br />

presence of Christ in Jesus (which reawakened the Christ within them – again John<br />

14:20); a presence that allowed them <strong>to</strong> remember that life was about serving<br />

others (see Mark 10:45 & John 13:15-<strong>17</strong>) instead of themselves. Yes, their eyes<br />

became closed once more<br />

thereafter (<strong>to</strong> the degree that they<br />

refused <strong>to</strong> go forth thereafter and<br />

live accordingly), and yet at least<br />

for that one moment of being<br />

exposed <strong>to</strong> The Way of selfsacrificial<br />

Love they could truly<br />

SEE again – with the same clarity<br />

they had when they were infants,<br />

and with the same empathy they<br />

knew when they were <strong>to</strong>ddlers<br />

(see Matthew 18:3-4).<br />

Amen ... Let it be so.<br />
