Talking About Boobs!
By: Linda Bateman-Gomez / Timeless Beauty
Let’s talk about boobs! And for any men now
suddenly reading this, this is unlikely to go
down a path that you will be interested in.
First off, as October’s National Breast Cancer
Awareness month has quickly passed us by, it’s important to remember
that this awareness should be every month! Breast health is just as
important as any other part of our well-being. Remember your checks
and remind a friend too!
Like many things, they can often go overlooked everyday as we
quickly strap them into a (probably) poor fitting bra in the morning
and we forget to give them the proper attention!
While I wouldn’t change a thing, breastfeeding 6 children has
certainly left its mark on “the girls” today.
And although we now know that breastfeeding is known to lower
your breast cancer risk, Mother Nature often gifts you in return a
smaller, sagging version of your younger, baby-free boobs.
Throw in age and gravity and suddenly we have one more daily thing
to manage. That’s where a good bra works wonders!
Recently at a seminar, a stranger asked if I would mind a personal
question. I was a bit surprised, but she excused her husband and asked
me what type of bra I was wearing.
Such a girlfriend thing to do! I said I didn’t shop specific brands, but
complete coverage sweater bras were my go-to style.
I must admit it was an unusual
conversation because I never met
her before. I did understand her
quest however, as a good bra works
wonders and she hadn't found one
yet. As it turned out, she shopped
at fancy lingerie stores and while
pretty, it didn't produce the results
she paid for.
My guess is many are in the
same boat. And at our age, you should have something that fits properly,
is comfortable, and produces the look you are after!
When shopping, first know what you want to accomplish. Do you
need lift, smooth coverage, comfortable straps? Then make a point to
spend some quality time shopping and find the right one!
At every department store, they are always willing to measure and
help. If in doubt, just ask. Strange as it sounds, it’s an important part
of your every life.
You will feel beautiful and your boobs will thank you at the end of
the day too!
Writing Boosts Your Brain
Consider doing
some of your
writing in
longhand.
Yes. Use a pen/pencil.
Neuroscience researchers
suggest we write by hand
occasionally because
it provides a crosslateral
does
not.
Car Shopping Made Easy
By: BJ Killeen / Down the Road
Whenever someone finds out I’m an
automotive journalist, inevitably, the
next question is, “What car should I buy?” It’s not
a one-size-fits all answer.
How you use your vehicle and what your budget is are the two biggest
deciding factors, but that’s the easy part. Because buying a vehicle is the
second most expensive purchase people make in their lifetimes, it should
require a lot of thought and research before you sign on the line.
While most people are doing research online, the first step before the
internet is a pen and paper. You first need to write down the parameters
that fit your needs.
Here are the most important questions: How many passengers will you
have? How many miles do you travel per year? How much time do you
spend commuting?
What will you use it for on weekends? Does it fit your hobby? How big a
monthly payment can you afford? How big is your garage?
This last question might seem minor, but too many times we’ve seen
people buy trucks and full-size sedans or SUVs that were too long to go
inside the garage and close the door. Buying a car isn’t like a piece of
clothing; you can’t return it because it doesn’t fit.
In addition to those basic questions, think about your previous car
purchases, and then ask yourself (and write it down): what did you really
like about your last car? What did you dislike? What is an absolute must
have on your next vehicle?
Finally, when you get your list together, go online and check out how
some of the new technologies work. You may not want or need 4G LTE
Wi-Fi, but blind spot recognition is a great safety feature that you’ll use
all the time.
Being prepared before you go into the dealership will make not only
your purchase decision easier, but also will help the sales consultant pair
you with the right vehicle. And remember, you can always email me with
questions or just ask for advice. Happy shopping!
