MIND OVER MATTER:
Ward Goodman’s fundraising challenge for Dorset Mind
Ward Goodman is excited to announce their support for Dorset Mind, an independent charitable
provider of mental health services. Twelve members of staff took part in a 5K Halloween Zombie
Escape Challenge in Bournemouth on Saturday 21 st October. Our team ‘MIND Your Own
Business’ will be doing their best to complete the 5k obstacle course to outrun Zombie hordes
and reach the Safe Zone!
Ward Goodman, Accountants and Financial Advisers, looked to raise upto £2,000 for Dorset
Mind from this fun challenge. As mental health problems can affect anyone and with around one
in four of us suffering some form of mental health problem during our lifetime, we hope the
donation will tackle this growing issue in our home county.
Director, Ian Rodd says, “We love it when the staff get fully on-board with our fundraising
events, they’ve done swims, runs, parachute jumps and fancy dress but this is certainly a
different event, having to survive a 5K run without getting ‘infected’. I’m sure they’ll do well!”
Zombie Escape organisers are thrilled to support Dorset Mind for this event, which takes place
shortly after World Mental Health Day, Tuesday 10 October, “Our events are all about enhancing
all of our mental well-being. Getting outdoors, getting active, and connecting with others whilst
running and giving back by running for a great charity! We hope to see a horde of Dorset Mind
T-shirts on the event day.”
Dr Andrew Mayers, Principal Academic at Bournemouth University and Patron for Dorset Mind
said “We are very grateful to Ward Goodman for this support. Although we are part of Mind’s
national family, we are an independent charity. Our aim is to provide high quality mental
services across Dorset, but we must raise the funds to do that; we get no financial support from
Mind. The money we raise goes directly into providing local services.”
Dee Swinton, Dorset Mind’s Fundraising and Marketing Manager added, “The Zombie 5K is Ward
Goodman’s first fundraising event in aid of us as their Charity of the Year – and what an amazing
target! The run itself encourages physical health and team building and that in turn has great
effects on wellbeing. We’re hoping that Ward Goodman benefits from taking part as much as
we do. Good luck to Jen Richardson and her team – we’ll be there to cheer you all on!”
