USES PTO GRANT TO PURCHASE
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
Lady Arrow volleyball player Janai’ Mason was selected as a part of the Class of 2020
Phenom list by the AVCA. Athletes recognized on the Phenom List have been identified by
the AVCA as elite rising high school volleyball student-athletes. These athletes are
underclassmen who have received some form of recognition for their outstanding play
(All-State, Prep Volleyball, USA Volleyball Team, etc.). These athletes will be eligible to
participate in the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program, an invitation only event.
Invitations to this event will be sent out in October. Janai’ is a sophomore middle hitter for
the Lady Arrows.
A $24,000 grant from the PTO will allow Clinton Park Elementary School
to purchase new playground equipment.
The total cost of the equipment is $34,000 but Principal Kelli Pope said
the difference will come from other PTO donations in recent years.
“With this money we’ll be able to purchase one big play area that can
hold 60-70 kids,” she said. “We will also be adding swings and other covered
play areas for students.”
The new equipment is expected to be installed by the time students
return from the Christmas and New Year holiday.
Last year, the school had two major fundraisers, a raffle for a trip to
Disney and the Boosterthon. This year’s Boosterthon begins Monday, Oct. 2
and concludes Oct. 13 with a fun run.
“The kids will be collecting sponsorships for each lap,” Pope said.
Through Boosterthon, students also learn important character lessons,
and all students participate in the fun run regardless of whether they
collected sponsorships.
“We have an amazing PTO that does a fantastic job supporting our
students, teachers and school,” Pope said. “This purchase will make our
playground even better for many years to come.”
Clinton Park Elementary School is purchasing new playground
equipment with a donation from the PTO.
