He joins his wife Patricia Lewis Millett in heaven. Norm and Patt grew up in Illinois, meeting at the university. Patt was a music major, studying opera, while Norman was an architecture student. After marriage, and a tour of duty in the navy they settled in Wilmette, raising three kids. In 1958, Norm moved the family to a beautiful home he designed in Lake Forest. Norman was a brilliant architect. He could see the grand plan. He designed many beautiful homes. Later in his career, his expertise in hospital design led him to projects all over the world, living for a while in Tehran, Iran, and Kuala Lumpur, Maylasia. After retir- Faith briefs Winnetka Covenant Church (1200 Hibbard Road, Wilmette) Interfaith Thanksgiving Service The New Trier Multifaith Alliance, comprising 14 north suburban faith communities, will host its annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The Alliance’s Interfaith Choir, Children’s Choir, and representatives of various faith communities will lead attendees in music, prayer and thanksgiving. They continued to travel, finding beauty in cathedrals as well as crumbling cow barns. Norman was a deeply spiritual man who loved the church and his fellow men and women. He always brought out the best in his friends and family. He was a wonderful example to his kids Mark, Peter and Lorri and grand kids Alexis, Adam, and Jacob. A memorial service was held Nov. 4 at St. Johns Methodist Church. Elaine Sternberg Elaine Sternberg, 91, formerly of Wilmette died. Sternberg was the beloved wife of the late Sheldon J. Sternberg; loving mother of Michael (Rebecca) Sternberg, Susan Berger (William) Kabaker, Nancy (Robert) Kushner, and David (Rachel) Sternberg; proud grandmother of Philip (Catherine Reitman) Sternberg, Daniel (Alli) Sternberg, Matthew (Erin) Sternberg, Elizabeth Sternberg, Laura, Annie, and Allison Berger, Sarah (Jeremy) Ahto, Steven (Allyson) Kushner, Andrew, Abby, and Jason Sternberg; and step-grandmother of Karen (Douglas) Wilbert, Emma and Zoe Weiss; cherished greatgrandmother of Carter and Harper Ahto, Jackson and Liam Sternberg, Eli and Avery Sternberg, Miles Sternberg, and Levi Kushner; and step-great-grandmother of Marissa and Olivia Wilbert, and Emma Yadloczky; caring sister of the late Jerome Oscherwitz and the late Louise (Sydney) Hoffmann Jr. Precious daughter of the late Philip and Laura Oscherwitz, founders of Best’s Kosher Sausage Co. Beloved matriarch known for her interior design, love of art, masterpiece needlepoints and the happiest husband on the planet. She leaves a large family who embrace the traits that defined her: wit, wisdom and endless optimism. Her stories will keep us laughing. Funeral services were Nov. 5 at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home.
