Eric DeGrechie, Editor
A few weeks back, we
announced our annual
The Great Pumpkin Contest
was underway. Entries
were slow to come
in, which isn’t surprising
since many families wait
to carve their pumpkins
until the night before or
actually on Halloween.
Luckily, my inbox was
flooded with last-minute
entries. Not surprisingly
based on past contests,
residents were got very
creative and the decision
to pick a final winner was
difficult.
In the end, we chose
the entry of Erich Kirr, of
Wilmette. Kirr carved out
a scary spider and its web.
The intricate details of
Kirr’s design put his entry
over the top. For the win,
Kirr will receive a $25
gift certificate from Nick’s
Neighborhood Bar & Grill,
1168 Wilmette Ave.
Thank you to Nick’s for
the prize and to all who
participated in The Great
Pumpkin Contest. Please
look out for The Beacon’s
next contest, The Holiday
Greeting Card Contest.
Chris Tucker, of Wilmette,
sent us this entry in honor
of New Trier Jazz.
