FIRST GIVE
Entering our third year with Just Give, we have already seen over £3,000 donated to local charities
on our behalf, as well as raised the profile of many smaller charities which rely on local
support. We have the perfect person at the helm for this, our very own ‘Teacher of the Year 2017’,
Mr. Evans.

The ‘First Give’ annual awards event took place at London’s iconic City Hall on Monday 2nd October.
As a school, we were one of a handful of schools who piloted the award 2 years ago and since its
introduction, the First Give award has become ever present within the Year 9 PSHE programme at
John Fisher.
Due to selfless dedication and efforts to raise awareness of social issues in our communities, the
winning form from Year 10 (Newman)were invited to the celebration event to compete in the ‘Soapbox
challenge’. They performed extremely well once again and we wait with excitement the results
of the challenge.
Fortunately, there was some success on the night for John Fisher when Mr Evans won ‘Teacher Of
The Year 2017’, beating off competition from teacher’s at 280 other schools around the UK.

Our Year 9 students have begun
their work on the First Give
project for this academic year
and we will be holding the finals
on Tuesday 6th March 2018, at
4.30-6.00pm, with a range of
guest judges.
