Grand Opening of Audi Dealership in Brampton
By Fazal Siddiqi
BRAMPTON: Brampton
gets another feather in its cap
with the inauguration of the
state-of-the-art, three-floor
Audi Dealership building in
Mayfield Auto Mall, off Hwy-
410.
The Bramgate Automotive
Group, under the leadership
of Bill Johnston Sr.,
Founder & President and his
sons Bill Johnston Jr. and
Brad Johnston, opened this
facility on Nov 2. This is the
second Audi dealership in
the group after Audi of Mississauga.
It’s a nice-looking
modern architecture with
well-planned layout and several
interesting and convenient
features, like indoor
cars display on third floor,
virtual reality lounge and
Audi sports section.
The grand opening of the
new dealership was a classy
and well-managed event befitting
the prestigious Audi
brand and its customers.
Right from arrival of
guests at the dealership to
registration and welcome
drinks, food, music and entertainment
– all aspects were
seamlessly executed for an
easy, efficient and enjoyable
experience, reflecting Bramgate
Automotive Group’s
business philosophy. It was
a full house with engaged audience,
a mix of existing and
potential customers, Bramgate’s
team members, business
partners and local politicians.
It provided guests with
an opportunity to unwind, be
up and close with exotic Audi
models like R8 and RS7 and
celebrate the success.
The event started with
speeches from the Johnston
family. Brad Johnston said
the opening of Audi Brampton
is special to him, as it
marks the 50th Anniversary
of the Bramgate Automotive
Group and the fact that the
new dealership is in Brampton,
from where his father
started business 50 years ago
and they call it a home.
He thanked all suppliers
and business partners for
helping in completing the facility
in time. Bill Johnston
Jr. provided a verbal tour
of the facility eloquently describing
features like Audi
sports section, where patrons
can customize their sports
models, the Virtual Reality
Lounge to build the car you
desire and experience it in
virtual reality and the Indoor
car display on the 3rd floor,
where customers can pick a
car, take it out for a test-drive
down an elevator and return
without having to step out,
a facility that could come
handy specially in winters.
Bill Johnston Sr. narrated
the highlights of his
50 years journey in taking it
from a one-car show room to
four leading dealerships in
the group. He re-iterated his
family commitment to the
Audi brand, to customers and
to the business philosophy of
providing easy, efficient and
Tim Hortons' poppy doughnut
causes social media stir
CALGARY: The head of the
Calgary Poppy Fund and
Veterans' Food Bank says he
hopes no one gets in big trouble
over a poppy-emblazoned
doughnut sold at a local Tim
Hortons.
John Rathwell says it
seems good intentions were
behind the gesture and it was
admirable an employee at the
restaurant would take the initiative.
But he points out the poppy
is a registered trademark
and a symbol that many hold
sacred.
Rathwell says he would
have preferred that the business
reached out to his group
ahead of Remembrance Day
about partnering to raise
funds for veterans.
The southeast Calgary
Tim Hortons franchise where
the doughnuts were sold declined
to comment and the
chain's head office did not immediately
respond to a similar
request.
The doughnuts caused a
social media stir after an image
of them was posted from
the popular Calgary Twitter
account @Crackmacs.
One Twitter user responded
by saying the move
does not sit well and another
said it isn't appropriate to
cash in on Remembrance
Day.
enjoyable car-buying experience
to all customers.
The Mayor of Brampton,
Honorable Linda Jaffrey,
spoke on the occasion
as well. She appreciated the
commitment of Johnston
family in building business
and generating employment
in the city. She lauded the
success and achievement of
the Bramgate Automotive
Group. Last but not the least,
Daniel Weissland, President
Audi Canada, delivered
vote of thanks and praised
the Johnston family in tirelessly
working and building
the Audi brand in the GTA.
Audi is the fastest growing
luxury brand in Canada.
He advised of bringing in
several new models in next
few years and assured of
his support to the Bramgate
Group.
The guests were entertained
with a sight-andsound
show on the third
floor with rendering of
beautiful music by a violinist.
The youngest DJ, as
per the Guinness Book of
world Record, was on hand
to show his prowess in playing
music.
A nice venue, plenty of
food and drinks in the backdrop
of light music, subtle
lights, display of Audi cars
and courteous service made
it an evening par Audi.
