5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - A Ticket to the Moon! 

It’s show time for Melody Bear at the Jill Bridger School of Dance 

and Melody Bear has a special twist to this year’s Christmas 

production as young dancers, aged 2 to 5 join her for a trip to the 

moon. Known for its unique story telling ballets, the school has 

three performances of Christmas with Melody at Comberton 

Leisure on Sunday 3 December. Melody Bear is taking the joy of 

Christmas to the Man in the Moon, but how will she get there?

New faces and returning favourites 

The Snow White cast are the fairest of all! 

The Cresset Theatre and Premier Pantomimes 

are delighted to announce a star line up for 

their spectacular family pantomime Snow 

White. With all the magic and spectacle 

audiences expect from a Cresset panto, it 

promises to be another hit production. 

Kevin Kennedy headlines this year’s cast as 

Muddles. A Coronation Street legend, Kevin 

played perennial favourite and ‘sex symbol’ 

Curly Watts in the soap for an incredible 20 

years. Since then he has worked extensively in 

theatre and TV, as well as enjoying a 

successful music career. And he’s no stranger 

to pantomime, having performed in many 

productions over the years. 

In the role of Prince Florizel is Mitch Hewer, 

who regular panto-goers will recognise from 

the title role in Aladdin at The Cresset in 

2014. Mitch got his big break on Channel 

4’s Skins, as fan favourite Maxxie and since 

his last visit to Peterborough he has appeared 

as Mickey Ellisson in BBC’s Casualty. He’s 

looking forward to returning to panto, and to 

Peterborough, having thoroughly enjoyed his 

previous experience at The Cresset.

Dame Zach Vanderfelt promises to deliver a 

sweet performance this year as the 

outrageous Madam Bonbon, full of sugar 

and spice and all things nice! Also returning 

is Cresset panto veteran Peter McCrohon, a 

man of many roles! 

After a wonderful Cresset debut as Wendy in 

last year’s production of Peter Pan, 

Victoria Jane is thrilled to be back in 

Peterborough as Snow White. Victoria is a 

professional singer, actress and presenter, 

and has even appeared in CBeebies’ 

Teletubbies! 

Performing alongside the professional cast 

are a team of talented local youngsters, 

selected from over a hundred hopefuls at 

open auditions earlier this year. 

Writer and Director Stuart Morrison has been 

involved with Cresset pantomimes for many 

years, and also directed the best-selling 

production of Peter Pan in 2016. This year he 

promises will yet again bring the wow factor: 

“Snow White’s a classic pantomime, and 

we’re making sure to include all the 

traditional elements that people love, but 

we’ve added some great song and dance 

routines, loads of laughs, plenty of 

audience participation, and you can 

expect a few surprises along the way 

too!”

Acting classes for children 

aged 8-18 years 

Cambridgeshire based dance school, the Vicky Grant School of 

Dance, now offers acting lessons to anyone aged 8-18 years. The 

successful classes, held in St Ives, have been running for two terms 

and students are about to perform in their first showcase covering a 

wide array of pieces from West End musicals to Shakespeare and 

anything in between. 

Mr Oliver Scott, Founder of the Momentum Theatre Company 

joined the Vicky Grant School of Dance as Head of Acting in April 

2017. Vicky Grant, Principal, commented; "I have had the pleasure 

of working with Oliver for many years, both on and off the stage, he 

is a fantastic actor, teacher and director. His classes are always full 

of energy and fun and I am thrilled to have him on board. I can’t 

tell you how important it is for dancers to have acting skills to 

enable them to perform their dances well, I’m very excited to add 

these classes to our timetable." 

The classes are split into age groups; 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 

14-18 years. The school is now taking names for January 2018 and

Razzamataz Cambridge perform with 

BGT winners Collabro 

In 2014, UK musical theatre group Collabro burst onto the scene 

having been crowned winners of the eighth series of Britain’s Got 

Talent. Having performed across the globe to standing ovations 

from the US, Japan and Canada, they are now back in the UK on 

tour and giving British children a taste of the limelight. 

The lucky youngsters all attend Razzamataz Cambridge and 

performed alongside Collabro on Friday 10th November at the 

Cambridge Corn Exchange. 

There are 32 children from the ages of 8 to 16 who will take part in 

Collabro’s third tour called Home, which comprises 29 dates across 

the UK. The students will be performing a Lion King medley and the 

haunting and beautiful Bui Doi from Miss Saigon with the Collabro 

boys and their live band. 

“This really was a wonderful opportunity for our students and we are 

very excited to be involved in the Home tour,” says Emma Louise 

Campbell, Principal of Razzamataz Cambridge. “Our teachers and 

students were busy preparing and rehearsing for weeks and the 

Razzamataz Cambridge students are incredibly proud to have 

performed alongside Collabro.” 

Razzamataz offers a wide range of performing arts styles for 

youngsters age 4 - 18 including current trends that are accessible to 

children and teenagers. Classes consist of dance, drama and 

singing and the curriculum covers the whole of the performing arts, 

from classic West End musical theatre to street dance, pop singing 

and acting for camera.

North Pole Christmas Festival 

Now is the time to jump the queues and book your favourite skate 

slots over the festive season at the 2017 North Pole Christmas 

Festival. Tickets are now on sale at

A winter festival vibe is promised at Parker’s Piece, Cambridge for

On Stage PA are excited to announce that we’re opening a NEW 

Dance Branch in Northstowe, so if your child loves to dance make

Huntingdon Racecourse 

The most popular day’s racing of the year at Huntingdon 

Racecourse, with a crowds pulling from all over to enjoy festive 

racing with loved ones. Boxing Day racing at Huntingdon 

Racecourse is as traditional at Christmas time as mulled wine and 

roast chestnuts. Come and enjoy a days racing out in the fresh 

countryside air, with 7 exciting races. 

Boxing Day is a raceday that can be enjoyed by all ages, especially

Eden Dance 

Eden Dance is one of the foremost ballet schools in the Cambridge 

area. Established in 1979 it is based in the fully equipped dance 

studio at the Chesterton Sports Centre on Gilbert Road in 

Cambridge.

all its students in regular full-scale theatre productions that have

KD Theatre Productions, the team behind the last 3 years of 

Huntingdon’s Professional Pantomime are delighted to be 

presenting their 4th pantomime this Christmas Season ‘THE 

WIZARD OF OZ.’ 

Due to the refurbishment closure at The Commemoration Hall there 

was concern over the Pantomime’s future, however, the pantomime 

is delighted to be moving to the fantastic Performing Arts Centre, 

Hinchingbrooke. 

Daniel Bell, producer says ‘We are delighted we will be working 

closely with the Performing Arts Centre to bring Huntingdon’s 

biggest professional pantomime to date! Not only will the move 

allow us to do more but also accommodate over twice as many 

people due to the larger auditorium.’ 

THE WIZARD OF OZ will feature a fully professional cast, live 

band, spectacular costumes and scenery. 

The show will run from the 6th - 14th January 2018 at The

Stagecoach Cambridge 

Stagecoach Cambridge and Cambourne are preparing to celebrate 

the 30th Anniversary of the Stagecoach Performing Arts nationwide

are the things to consider when buying 

your Christmas centrepiece? 

Each tree species can be a little different in 

size, scent and needle retention so it’s 

difficult to know which Christmas tree to 

buy. Delight your family and guests this 

Christmas by using Forestry Commission 

England’s expert guide to picking the 

perfect tree for you. 

Norway Spruce 

Considered the traditional Christmas tree, 

the Norway Spruce is best known for: 

• A wonderful shape and an 

abundance of branches – great 

for hanging lots of decorations! 

• A lovely ‘Christmassy’ scent that's 

perfect at this time of year 

Who does it suit? 

With a long lasting scent and a traditional 

shape, Norway spruce are perfect for those 

who appreciate the classic look and smell 

of Christmas. 

Tips 

To help your spruce retain its needles you 

need to place it away from any 

radiators/fires and water it every day. 

Nordmann fir 

The star qualities of a Nordmann fir are: 

• Having soft foliage and an even 

shape – making it a joy to 

decorate! 

• Glossy, dark green needles that 

have a whitish/light blue 

underside 


With its big needles which are lovely and 

soft, Nordmann fir are perfect for those 

with young children. 

Tips 

You will need a big space to show off a 

Nordmann fir in its full glory. For a 6ft tall 

tree allow approximately 5ft space. 

Lodgepole pine 

The Lodgepole pine is an ideal Christmas 

tree due to its: 

• Bushy appearance and luscious 

long green needles 

• Branches that point upwards 

which hold a wonderful pine 

scent 


With the best needle retention of them all, 

Lodgepole pines are perfect for those who 

like a long festive season and decorate 

their tree as early as possible. 

Tips 

High ceilings are a must for this tree; make 

sure you measure the height of your room 

where you plan to put the tree before you 

go pick one up from the forest! 

Caring for your Christmas tree 

Preventing needles dropping and the green 

from fading on your Christmas tree 

requires a little bit of care and attention. 

Follow our top tips for a longer lasting, 

healthier real Christmas tree! 

1. Cut off 2.5cm from the trunk to 

aid with water absorption 

2. Put the tree in a stand with the 

trunk immersed in water 

3. Keep your tree in a cool, dry 

space. Away from radiators and 

fires 

4. Water your tree regularly
