This year's recipients, Alf and Lili, originally from Denmark, are energetic supporters. In 2016, Alf wanted to do something special in honor of Lili’s 80 th birthday. They offered a challenge grant to all NNW members, the “80 for 80 Challenge": raise $80,000 and they would match the $80,000! It was a huge success and NNW continues to benefit from their generosity. You will see them volunteering and attending events; ScanFair is a favorite. They always have smiles on their faces and energy enough to share with all of us. Thank you Alf & Lili. You are our heroes! • VOLUNTEERS EXTRAORDINAIRE DAVE ALFORD, ROBERT BASEL & DIRK SCHULBACH Any time you are at Nordia House, you are likely to see Dave, Robert and Dirk, or all three of these good folks, building, painting, repairing, and otherwise looking after Nordia House and Fogelbo. You’ll see them at ScanFair making and putting up signs, creating and selling raffle prizes, and about a zillion other tasks. Plus, Dave is our 2016 Scandinavian of the Year. How do you calculate the value our volunteers bring? Actually, there is a nonprofit financial methodology involved, but by emotional methodology, Dave, Robert, and Dirk are off the charts! Thank you! • NNW MEMBER NEWS Honoring A Nordic Northwest Legend: During the latest round of paver engraving this summer, we honored Ross Fogelquist, whose contributions and commitment to Nordic Northwest have been unparalleled.
