Through January 7 th - Ice Land and Festival of Lights. Moody Gardens
takes the holidays to a whole new level of cool! A skilled team of
master ice carvers has charted your course for your journey through
the rainforests of the world to see monkeys, beautiful birds, incredible
butterflies, colorful orchids and so many wonderful creatures. Stick
around after Ice Land for the Festival of Lights - a mile-long trail with
more than one million lights and lighted scenes take you around the
Moody Gardens property with spectacular views of Galveston Bay

Through January 15 th - Zoo Lights. The Houston Zoo is transformed into
a winter wonderland! TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights celebrates its
fifth year as one of Houston’s most well-loved holiday traditions. Stroll
through the beautiful Houston Zoo and take in the sights and sounds of
the season. Enjoy festive carols, sip hot chocolate and take in the more
than 2 million lights! Fifteen miles of eco-friendly LED lighting illuminate
our ancient oak trees and decorate the paths to light your way. Between

Through January 20 th - Skate with Storybook Stars. Children of all ages
are invited to skate with storybook characters on The ICE at Discovery

January 6 th -7 th - The Bridal Extravaganza Show is back! Meet over 350
wedding vendors at Houston’s George R. Brown convention center on

January 13 th - Hops n’ Hot Sauce Festival. This indoor festival is family
friendly! There is a kid’s play area with bounce houses and other
kids activities. Popular Houston food trucks will be on hand and the
football playoffs will be on inside SpindleTap Brewery’s bar for football
fans. There will be another hot pepper eating contest with cash prize.
Last year’s winner will be back to defend his title! Live graffiti painting

January 13 th - Annual MLK Youth Parade. Over 20 high school marching
bands, 10 parade floats and various performers make up the MLK Youth
Parade. The event is broadcast nationwide, but spectators can attend
this parade and witness the powerful music firsthand. The event is at
12 Noon and located in Midtown on San Jacinto Street at Elgin Street.

January 14 th - Annual MLK Battle of the Bands Competition features
more than 20 accredited high school marching bands competing. Spend
a day listening to spectacular performances by marching bands from
Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee,

January 15 th - Annual MLK Grande Parade. The MLK Grand Parade is one
of the largest single day multicultural events in the U.S. held in honor
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Houston’s Midtown Originating on San

January 18 th - The Woodlands Taste of the Town is a paradise for
gourmands interested in sustainable and healthy dining. For the past
decade, more than 25 local restaurants gather at the festival to offer
samplings of their Texas-grown and prepared dishes. The festival also
hosts a competition among the featured restaurants, with awards in
categories including best dessert or best booth design. With additional
activities for children like face painting and personalized chef-hat
crafting, the festival has events to entertain the whole family.
January 28 th - Houston Hot Chocolate 15K & 5K Road Race. The best
goodie bags in running, free instantaneous race photos and scrumptious
post-race treats are just three reasons you’ll want to sign up for the
first-ever Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Race in Houston. This insanely popular
RAM Racing USATF-certified event hits the Magnolia City starting at
Sesquicentennial Park on January 28, 2018. The Hot Chocolate Race
Series benefits Make-A-Wish®, a national charity that creates lifechanging
wishes for children with critical illnesses. Registration is open
until Thursday, January 25, 2018. Cost for the 5K is begins at $49 while
the extended distance fee starts $74.The 5K begins at 7:15 AM, the 15K

January 27 th -28 th - Houston Tea Festival. This festival is everyone’s cup
of tea! Houston Tea Festival takes place over two days and provides
guests with talks, workshops, tea tastings, pairings, shopping, live
music and much more. Come enjoy educational seminars led by tea
industry leaders at this this elegant afternoon event. Kids are welcome!
