Hello Readers,
The world has become such a
bitter place and my heart goes
out to all those who have
suffered loss due to the
menacing evils of a chosen few
and the natural disasters that
have plagued us all around the
world.
I feel so humbled by the sincere
acceptance of my work. The
holiday season is upon us.
Hopefully you and yours find
peace and happiness in the
upcoming year.
My sincere wish is for peace of
mind and prosperity during
your darkest hour. May you and
your family be blessed.

Celebrate
The fall gets off to a roaring start
for me. I celebrated another new
year with my family.
I had to strike a pose for my new
lease on life with a faux Vogue
cover. I went to Alexander Park in
Snellville, Georgia that has a pond
with a pier and the view is serene.
The scenery does wonders for my
complexion on an October
afternoon.
Because I am a slave to Grey’s
Anatomy, I opted out for dinner at
a restaurant and chose to pick-up
a seafood delight from Doos
Seafood on the way home from a
long day out and about.
This was a yummy meal that
consisted of shrimp, mussels and
crab legs doused in garlic lemon
pepper butter with all the sides.
It could only be matched by a
great episode of my primetime
favorite past-time.

Lilburn Daze Festival
I remember attending this festival
last year with my grandchildren.
We had such a great time. Today,
I am a vendor with a booth. The
patrons are welcoming and kind.
As an attendee, I do not
remember a full orchestra playing
last year, but they had it this year.
The Lilburn Women Club are the
organizers and they did a
wonderful job.
My best-selling book of the day is
How I Wish I Had My Mother. A
good time was had by all. I think
that I am going to participate
again next year.
Thank you to the good people in
Gwinnett County for showing up
and showing out.
I will see you next year same time,
same place.

Halloween
My youngest granddaughter has
been asking me since June, what I
wanted to be for Halloween? It is
amazing how little people only
commit three (3) occasions to
memory. It usually comes up in
conversation in this order
Halloween, Christmas and their
own birthday. Anyway, I would
always answer her the same, I do
not want to be a character. Her
response to be would be,
Grammie, you need to try
something. As the holiday is fast
approaching, I now tell her that I
want to be a polar bear. This news
bothers her because she so wants
me to be a princess or a queen
like her. I get a kick out of her
frustration sometimes because I
love to hear her interpret her
feelings about things. She
fascinates me.
We go trick or treating (she opts
for another character who is not a
princess. Image that!) and me
being a character no longer seem
to matter when candy is involved.

NSU Last Home Game
We got invited back to vend at the
last home game of Norfolk State
University. This was a sudden
invitation in the beginning of
October for a November
appearance. I personally felt like
it was an opportunity, but I was a
little unsure due to the climate
difference between Georgia and
Virginia in the month of
November. My instincts were
correct it was cold as the dickens.
Needless to say, I went, met great
people and sold many books. The
crowd was very receptive and
engaging. To my delight, the
highlight of the event was
experiencing the marching band
of North Carolina A&T. It was the
icing on the cake.
Thank you again Norfolk State
University. This Historical Black
College University never
disappoints.

Thankful
It has been a long time since I
visited my dad for a holiday.
Usually, I am caught up with my
children and theirs. We took the
ride to Charleston, South Carolina
for Thanksgiving.
Needless to say, all the
grandbabies wanted to ride with
me. It was a long, loud, five-hour
drive. They all had a great time
driving my dad and stepmom
crazy with questions, along with
all the running and screaming
because that is what toddlers do.
Eventually, the temperature
warmed up enough for them to
go outdoors. That made my
parents happy. The three were
over the moon running aimlessly
across the fields.
We all had a great time.

Snow Day
It is the first snow in the month of
December in the state of Georgia
in a long time. For once, the
citizens are not in a state of panic
in my part of town and the lightly
snow covered landscape is
beautiful.
My youngest granddaughter has
been waiting for snow for nearly a
year. She finally got her wish and
she knew exactly what she
wanted to do with the
opportunity.
All she wants is to build a
snowman. Not because she has
any experience with it, she has
seen Peppa Pig a British cartoon
character do it so many times and
today it would be her turn.
Who was I to deny her a chance
to fulfill her dream? She got off to
a great start and as night fell, she
completed her task with the help
of her mommy.

Seasons Greetings
We tried something new this year.
We went on a search for
neighborhoods doing Christmas
decorating contests as well as
extraordinary displays. Boy oh
boy, we hit the jackpot when we
found one in a neighboring city.
Amberwood Drive is a narrow
road off a major four lane
thoroughfare in Lawrenceville,
Georgia who does a fantastic job
at bringing in the holiday cheer.
They had many visitors from near
and far. We saw a family visiting
from Kansas.
My grandbabies got to meet
Santa Claus and the big question
of the night was, “Shouldn’t you
be at your workshop?” Santa
replied politely, “I am going back
today as soon as I talk to all the
children.” My three were a little
salty with that response seeing as
how close it was to Christmas.

Thoughts in the Car Returns
My weekly podcast has been in
hiatus for most of this year. The
show will be returning to the
airwaves in 2018. Surprisingly, the
show garners many new listens
with each passing week. Thank
goodness for evergreen content.
There will be all new episodes
beginning the first Sunday in
January. Also, in addition to
finding the show on iTunes, the
show will be hosted on Sound
Cloud.
The new season of Thoughts in
the Car will include more
interviews on a variety of topics.
Of course, my opinion on matters
of the human condition, politics,
and current events will continue
to be shared. I hope that you
continue to listen.
For those who have not been
exposed, take a walk on the wild
side and give it a listen.

The Book Review
My reading list for the Fall is
diversified. I tried to choose
books from authors that may
not be household names. After
all, as an author myself, we all
want a chance to engage an
audience.
The first book on my list is
entitled A Night to Remember
by Kerdel Ellick. It is a short
novella about an encounter
with someone desired. The
story is rushed. Too many small
details missing to make it
enjoyable.
Second on my list is Diary of a
Human Target – Book One:
Tainted Youth by Isidora Vey.
Yvonne finds no happiness
within or outside of her family. I
understand that teenagers are
full of despair but this character
takes it to a new level. She
needs a hug. More sad
moments then funny. This book
is the essences of what being
bullied feels like.

The Book Review - Part 2
Moving down the list, I arrived
at A Snow White Scenario
written by Roddy Murray. This
book takes you on a roller
coaster ride. It ebbs and flows
from chapter to chapter. At first,
the title threw me a bit, but
after the mission unfolds, I get
it. It is very clever. This is one of
few books that I have read that
does not have a neat and tidy
ending. I have to say that I am
not in-love with how it ends.
The book is a good read overall.
I would recommend it.
Next up, this book caught my
attention on multiple levels so I
added it to my list. That Place
of Knowledge written by Philip
Alan Shalka is a riveting tale of a
15-year-old boy and his service
dog. Told from the view of the
service animal. His autistic
master seeks wisdom and Sabre
the dog follows his lead in the
search. A wonderful reflection
of why it is important to believe
in yourself. It is a quick read
and very enjoyable.

The Book Review - Part 3
I have picked an interesting lot
this go round. The next book in
the line-up is Sinuous Sins by
C.D. Blue. It is the beginning of
a series. Now, I really do not
read series but because I was so
enthralled by her debut stand
alone Shards of the Past, I
figured it couldn’t hurt to come
over to the dark side for at least
the first installment.
This story is a page turner. Love
the concept. The romance is
very tantalizing as well as
tasteful. Another home run. I
definitely recommend it.
The last book to make the cut
for my Fall reading is The Girl
Who takes an Eye for an Eye by
David Lagercrantz. It is a pick
from my reading group in Good
Reads. The author continues
where Stieg Larsson left off and
he does not disappoint. Lisbeth
Salander is still tormented by
the abuse of her past and
everyone pays the price.
Chaotic but still a good read.

Snapshot of the Year
that Was
This year was full of adventure. I have engaged in so many
new things that normally I would have not given the time of
day. I tried to capture all of my most poignant moments
quarter by quarter. Hopefully, I have been successful in
sharing my motivation and inspiration. Feel free to go back
and checkout any magazine that you missed. Each gives a
little insight into how I craft my work, live my life and support
others.
