320. YOU NEED THIS NELSON<br />
Mary Nelson has lived in Richmond almost all her life. She majored in French<br />
and Art History in college and graduate school. Both of her sons graduated from<br />
St. Christopher’s, and she now has five grandsons at the school. Mary took her<br />
first art classes at the Virginia Museum Studio School where she studied drawing<br />
with Eleanor Rufty and photography with Hil Scott. Later instruction included<br />
drawing from Marjorie Perrin and Wolfgang Jasper, oil pastels from Diane<br />
Detamore and oil painting from Laura Loe. The inspiration for this lovely<br />
11” x 14” oil on board unframed piece, titled The Lily Shed, comes from summers<br />
spent in Maine.<br />

321. CLIPS<br />
After Dee Hyers retired from fashion design, manufacturing and retailing, she<br />
decided to become an artist, as well as a photographer. Living in Italy for 15<br />
years, she was influenced and inspired by the mix of old world Italian culture and<br />
modern design. This 12” x 15” framed black and white photograph, entitled<br />
Clips, is a great addition to any home or office.<br />

This 12” x 15” framed black and white photograph, entitled Juxtaposed, was<br />
taken by award-winning photographer Dee Hyers, a retired fashion designer.<br />
Now her passions include painting and photography.<br />

323. DEDE DAVIS<br />
An abstract painter from Virginia, Dandridge "Dede" Davis is known for her large<br />
acrylic abstract paintings as well as smaller encaustic (beeswax) paintings. She<br />
received a B.A. with honors in Studio Art from Hollins University in 1989 and,<br />
within a few years, her work was featured in galleries from California to<br />
Richmond. In 2010, the Federal Reserve Bank (Richmond) acquired one of her<br />
large pieces for their permanent collection. Her work has been called intuitive<br />
abstract painting and she loves to paint simple forms in nature through texture,<br />
shape and color.<br />

324. CATHERINE BOTH ORIGINAL<br />
A state and national award-winning artist, Catherine Both received her B.F.A.<br />
degree from Florida State University and completed her graduate work at the<br />
University of Richmond. Her art is noted for its diversity. In addition to a variety<br />
of painting subjects, she has designed and painted murals and furniture. "I want<br />
to create art that helps people appreciate the beauty in life and heighten one's<br />
senses to the ordinary which transcends to the extraordinary." The soothing<br />
colors found in this painting will be a welcome addition to any home.<br />
