The proposed programme for this Architectural Design Project<br />

is a Women Shelter names Chow Kit Women Empowering<br />

Centre, which aims to give a helping hand to the women<br />

around Chow Kit, as well as those that needs help outside<br />

Chow Kit area. This programme is to help the women who are<br />

intend to get away from being a sex worker, drug addicts, or<br />

even being abused, physically or mentally, by people around<br />

them.<br />

The word “Empowering” is used as the name of the centre,<br />

representing that the programme is helping the women<br />

by providing them a place to stay, skills learning and<br />

job opportunities - equip, prepare and lead them back<br />

to the path of a healthy life and get rid of the painful<br />

experience of the past.<br />

This programme is proposed with the aim to change the<br />

community of Chow Kit, as well as the perception of the<br />

public towards women who are in the sex workers field.<br />

Being infamous of prostitution, drug addicts and homelessness,<br />

Chow Kit is a strategic location to set up such<br />

programme so that it can maximise the out-reach of the public.<br />
