Abel Tasman National Park<br />

Three Day Abel Tasman Guided Sea Kayak & Walk<br />

Day 1 - Nelson / Motueka to Awaroa via Totaranui<br />

Includes Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner<br />

- Scenic drive to Kaiteriteri<br />

- Cruise Kaiteriteri to Totaranui<br />

- Walk 7kms including tidal crossing, max elevation 60m.<br />

• Coach pick up from Nelson or Motueka<br />

• Meet your Guide at our Motueka office for a tour briefing with time<br />

for last-minute luggage organisation before departing to<br />

Kaiteriteri by coach.<br />

• Vista Cruise departs Kaiteriteri for a fast, safe, comfortable cruise<br />

along the National Park coastline. Hot & cold drinks, open and<br />

enclosed viewing decks and bathroom facilities on board.<br />

• From Totaranui, walk through mature beech and rata forests,<br />

and along secluded golden beaches to the tidal inlet at Awaroa.<br />

• Either walk if the tide is out, or take a boat ride across the stunning<br />

expanses of the largest inlet on the coast.<br />

• Be welcomed with pre-dinner drinks and food by your hosts at<br />

Meadowbank Homestead – Awaroa<br />

Day 2 - Awaroa to Torrent Bay<br />

Includes Breakfast, Morning and Afternoon Tea, Lunch, Dinner.<br />

- Walk Awaroa to Onetahuti 5km<br />

- Sea Kayak Onetahuti (Tonga Beach) to Torrent Bay - Paddling – 10km<br />

- From Awaroa, walk over the Tonga Saddle to Onetahuti beach where<br />

kayaks will be waiting for you.<br />

• Your Guide will settle you into your kayaks for a full training session.<br />

• Leave Onetahuti for a morning of beach hopping down the coast:<br />

Bark Bay, Falls River, Frenchman’s Bay.<br />

• If conditions allow, visit the seal colony at Tonga Island.<br />

• Cruising past Tonga Quarry and the Tonga Arches<br />

• Stop for lunch at one of the idyllic bays<br />

• A welcome awaits at Torrent Bay Lodge, right on the beachfront.<br />

Day 3 - Torrent Bay to Motueka / Nelson<br />

Includes Breakfast, Morning and Afternoon Tea, Lunch<br />

- Sea Kayak Torrent Bay to Kaiteriteri – 12km<br />

- Scenic Drive Kaiteriteri to Motueka or Nelson<br />

• Paddling along the coast, discover the pristine bays, beaches and<br />

islands named by French explorer, Dumont D’Urville in <strong>18</strong>27.<br />

• Stop for lunch at any one of the bays, then continue on to Kaiteriteri<br />

• Our Coach meets you at Kaiteriteri to return to Motueka or Nelson<br />

Adele Island Birdsong & Seals Guided Kayaking<br />

More to see! Less paddling effort! Cruise from Kaiteriteri to Observation Cove, then paddle<br />

to Adele Island wildlife sanctuary; home to seals, penguins and birds, including one of<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>’s rarest birds: the South Island Saddleback. Take a morning or afternoon,<br />

with time to take a Cruise & Walk option to explore other regions of the Park.<br />

Availability<br />

High Season (20 Oct - <strong>18</strong> Apr) – Alternate itinerary during the low season.<br />

9.00 am or 12.40pm: Check in at our Kaiteriteri ticket booth to meet your Guide.<br />

9.20 am or 1 .00pm: Join our Vista Cruise at Kaiteriteri to cruise into the protected waters of the<br />

Astrolabe Roadstead.<br />

9.40 am or 1.20pm: Disembark at Observation Cove where your friendly, expert Guide settles you<br />

into a stable double kayak with full instructions and safety brief. Then, it’s onto the water to explore<br />

and have fun. Explore the coast of Adele Island, then return to Observation Cove.<br />

2.10, 3.45 or 5.40pm: Rejoin the Vista Cruise to return to Kaiteriteri at 2.30, 4.10 or 6.00pm<br />
