Prayer Meeting<br />
Prayer Meeting will be held this Wednesday evening, January 17, 2018, at 7:00 pm.<br />
Prayer Meeting for adults and university students will be in the main sanctuary, while<br />
Prayer Meeting for our youth will be in the multi-purpose rooms. All are encouraged<br />
to attend. Remember, “much prayer, much power!”<br />
Stewardship Corner<br />
In Psalm 34:9, David wrote, “Fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear Him<br />
lack nothing.” In other words, when we offer ourselves to God’s service, He takes<br />
care of all our material, emotional, and spiritual needs. His promise is, “Trust in the<br />
Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the<br />
Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:3, 4). When we dedicate<br />
all that we are, and all that we have to God’s service, He takes care of the rest.<br />
Remember in this <strong>New</strong> Year to return an honest Tithe and Combined Budget Offering<br />
to the Lord.<br />
Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA) Building Project<br />
Please be mindful of our financial commitment to the OAA Building Project. Given<br />
our church obligation of $3,000,000.00, the OUC makes a monthly payment to satisfy<br />
this commitment. Let us all support this collective responsibility through our systematic<br />
financial support, which is in addition to our normal Tithe and Combined Budget<br />
Offering. All donations, large or small, are sincerely appreciated. Kindly mark on<br />
your offering envelope, “OAA Building Fund.”<br />
“Restoration 40” - Construction of Family Life Center<br />
Our Family Life Center is over 75% completed! Praise the Lord! As we go into the<br />
“home stretch” for construction completion, everyone is kindly asked to intensify<br />
their giving efforts for our Family Life Center Building Project, which is inclusive of<br />
our “Restoration 40” initiative. Each member is asked to reach a goal of $1,000.00<br />
for this project through a one time gift, systematic monthly gifts, or the solicitation of<br />
donations from family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and businesses (in<br />
addition to your normal Tithe and Combined Budget Offering). If you have reached<br />
your $1,000.00 goal, please feel free to give additional funds. Donations can be made<br />
via your offering envelope and labeled, “Restoration 40.” Thank you.<br />

Back to School Revival - Jonathan Nelson<br />
Our Spring Semester “Back to School Revival” will continue today, January 13, during<br />
our Divine Worship Experience with our Senior Pastor, Dr. Carlton P. Byrd, serving as<br />
our speaker, and our special musical guest will be Jonathan Nelson.<br />
Adventist Youth Ministry (AYM) Program<br />
Please join us this afternoon, January 13, for our AYM Program which will begin at 4:30<br />
pm in the multi-purpose rooms. Today’s feature will be a special “Christian Movie<br />
Screening.” All members (youth and adult) are encouraged to be present this evening.<br />
Snacks will be served.<br />

Free Tax Preparation Service - Stewardship Department<br />
Our OUC Stewardship Department is once again offering free tax preparation services for<br />
simple tax returns. This year, in an effort to accommodate more individuals, we are<br />
offering a convenient “drop-off” service. Procedures, along with a checklist, may be<br />
picked up in the church office beginning this Tuesday, January 16. After the submission<br />
of all requested documents (W-2’s, charitable receipts, 2017 income tax returns, etc.), tax<br />

Family Life Ministries<br />
The OUC Family Life Ministries Department will present its fourth “Living in Love”<br />
Seminar entitled, “Infidelity, Forgiveness, and Healing,” next Saturday evening, January<br />
20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Wade Hall Multi-purpose Room on the campus of OU.<br />
The presenters will be Drs. Trevor and Edith Fraser. For more information, please contact<br />

Prayer Ministries - “40 Days of Prayer” Initiative<br />
The OUC and the Oakwood University (OU) Office of Spiritual Life invite you to join the<br />
“40 Days of Prayer” Initiative. Each day through February 18 from 12:00 Noon to 12:30<br />
pm we will have a special prayer service in the Moseley Complex Chapel (Sundays,<br />
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and the OUC Sanctuary (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and<br />
Sabbaths). Come be a part of a powerful start for 2018! The Bible is clear, “You shall<br />
receive power . . .” (Acts 1:8).<br />
Condolence<br />
We regret to announce the passing of Sis. Dorothea Laurence Risker, sister of Mae Elois<br />
Laurence. The Memorial Service will take place tomorrow, January 14, at 11:00 am here at<br />
the OUC. Please remember the Risker and Laurence Families in your prayers.<br />
Women’s Ministries<br />
All ladies are invited to attend the “Women Helping Women Heal” Program to be held this<br />

J.L. Moran Alumni Chapter Meeting<br />
The OU J.L. Moran Alumni Chapter will meet Sunday, January 28, at 2:00 pm in the Blake<br />
