your space. Get creative
with planters and play
with the scale of plants
in relationship to your
space—don't be afraid to
suspend them from the
ceiling!

moments as the founder
of #TheNewSouthern is
seeing a good traditional
Southern design moment
reimagined in a new way.
Across the country, I've
started to see black walls
as the new neutral, while
floors are painted white
to really open up a
space. Whichever moment
you prefer, it becomes
another inexpensive design
choice that highlights the
furniture, art, and the life
you live within a space.
We're drifting away from
florals, animal prints and
ikats and coming back to
funky, geometric shapes,
from floors to wallpaper to
accent pillows and beyond.
I'm beginning to see
more intricate patterns
re-emerge in a bold way,
which is such an easy way
to add personality to a
room.

One of the benefits of
having my finger on
the pulse of design is
that I'm constantly
introduced to the creatives
who are pushing the
trends forward. I've seen
a strong shift towards
art and the makers who
create it, and I think
it's our responsibility and
privilege to support them
and their labors, which
breathes new life into my
work and into our homes.
