Central Valley Corvettes of Fresno - February 2018

Emily Piercy is taking Tom to Hawaii for two weeks to celebrate his birthday later this month.
Will expect a full report on all the fun they had next month.
Staying in the Hawaii mode; I received this report from Kim and Charlie. They left for 9 days in
Kauai with family for sunshine and fun. 4 days into their trip Kim broke out with hives
everywhere and spent a miserable night and Charlie had to take her to an urgent care the next
morning. But nothing compared to the terror they all felt Saturday morning when they all
received emergency messages on our phones that a ballistic missile was inbound for Hawaii and
it was not a drill. All 9 of their family, including a 3 & a 4-year-old huddled in a bathroom
thinking it was the end and trying to stay calm and not scare the kids. They had the TV on and
the emergency system kept saying it was not a drill and to seek shelter and the inbound missile
would hit within 10 to15 minutes. They said a lot goes through your mind during a time like that
when you have no control. 38 minutes later a message came out that it had been a mistake. We
are thankful it was a mistake but it was really hard to get back to normal for quite a while. They
usually wish our vacations last longer but they were glad to head home the next day.
Congratulations to Craig and Darlene Derringer as they welcome a new grandson to the family.
This is Craig’s daughters’ first child; his name is Cassius Gabriel he weighed in at 10 pounds 2 oz.
born on December 23rd. What a great Christmas present!
