ROKPA is the Tibetan word for
“help” and “friend”. The organization
supports people in need in the
most remote regions of the world.

ROKPA actively participates in
around 90 projects for people living
on the margins of society:

ROKPA gives out approximately
45,000 meals per year to feed
the hungry

ROKPA ensures basic healthcare
for around 20,000 people in need

ROKPA supports approximately
5,000 poverty stricken students
per year, enabling them to attend
primary school, learn a skilled
trade and even pursue a university
degree

A clear focus
Efficient use of donations
Most of ROKPA’s aid projects are
carried out in the Tibetan areas of
China and Nepal, focusing mainly on
education, medical care, food and
culture:

Education and support of street
children, orphans and children
from nomadic families

Immediate assistance in medical
emergencies and expansion of
basic healthcare
••
Operation of Soup Kitchens
••
Promotion and preservation of
Tibetan Medicine and culture
A close collaboration with the beneficiaries,
local networks built over
decades, lean structures and the
participation of many volunteers
around the world allow ROKPA an
optimal use of donations.

ROKPA is represented in
16 countries:
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany,
Great Britain, India, Ireland, Italy,
Nepal, the Netherlands, Poland,
South Africa, Spain, Switzerland,
the United States of America and
Zimbabwe.
The headquarters of
ROKPA INTERNATIONAL are in
Zurich, Switzerland.

Direct Involvement
Our projects are managed on-site by
our co-founder Lea Wyler and other
ROKPA Representatives. This way
we make sure that donations arrive
directly in the hands of people who
need them most.
ROKPA INTERNATIONAL was
founded in Zurich in 1980 by the
Tibetan physician and meditation
master Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche,
the actress Lea Wyler and the
attorney Dr Veit Wyler.
