• Finish all transplanting, get everything in the ground for a good spring spurt of growth.
Transplant balled and burlap, container-grown, bare-root deciduous evergreen trees, shrubs,
roses and vines while still dormant.
• Finish pruning roses. Weed and cultivate lightly all beds. Replenish mulch as needed.
• Control early spring insects like thrips on glads and aphids on young tender growth. Spray with
Malathion, Diazinon or Orthene.
• At the end of February: peach, apple and pear fruit must be thinned to insure quality production
at harvest.
• Give groundcovers a haircut. They will spread faster.
• Divide daylilies, daisies and other perennials now.
