LAGOS—TWO sons of
a
Police
Superintendent, aged 16
and 19, yesterday,
appeared before an
Igbosere magistrate’s
court in Lagos for beating
up two superintendents
of police with belt.
The two siblings are
standing trial alongside
a 33-year-old woman,
Risikat Arowolo,
resident at McCarthy
Police Barracks, Lagos
Island, on a two-count
charge of conspiracy and
assault before
Magistrate Patrick
Adekomaiya.
The Police prosecutor,
Sergeant Peace
Chukwudi, told the court
that the incident
occurred on February 10,
at McCarthy Police
Barracks in Lagos
Island.
She said that the trio
conspired amongst
themselves and
assaulted two policemen,
who reside in the same
barracks with them.
Chukwudi said that the
defendants allegedly
assaulted the policemen
by beating them with
belt and also pushed
them into the gutter.
The assaulted
policemen are Chief
Superintendent Onojaife
Kent
and
Superintendent,
Nwaimo Christopher.
According to the
prosecutor, the offence
committed is punishable
under Sections 411 and
172 of the Criminal Laws
of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the
defendants pleaded not
guilty to the charge
preferred against them.
M a g i s t r a t e
Adekomaiya granted the
defendants bail in the
sum of N50,000, each
with one surety each in
like sum.
He said that the surety
must show his bank
statement and tax
payment to Lagos State
government to the court.
The case was
adjourned till March 14
for mention.
Benue killings: Missing policeman
found dead; eyes, ears, nose missing

four police officers
declared missing by the Benue
State Police Command, after
being ambushed by suspected
herdsmen at Azege village,
Ayilamo in Logo Local

OWERRI—HUNDREDS of
women in Imo State,
yesterday, staged a protest in
Owerri, the state capital, over
incessant kidnappings in their
communities.
The women, who are from
Umuowa-Ibu community in
Okigwe Local Government
Area, stormed the Imo State
Police Command, where their
protest letter was received by
the command’s Police Public
Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew
Enwerem.
The letter, which was made
available to Vanguard, was
signed by the community
elders, women and youths’
leaders, Mazi Nelson
Okoronkwo, Mrs. Helen
Akazie and Mr. Chukwu Vin
Okorie, respectively, among
others.
They were embittered that the
people of the community had
been under intense fear from
2015 till date, over the activities
of kidnappers.
They claimed that they
decided to come to the police
headquarters, after several
reports to the police in Okigwe,
were not yielding any result.
According to their report, “it
is with hearts full of sorrow and
pains that we, the entire people
of Umuowa-Ibu community in
Okigwe LGA, wish to bring to
your knowledge acts of
Government Area of the state,
has been found dead.
The remains of the slain
officer were found without his
eyes, ears and nose.
Recall that the four mobile
police officers went missing
following an ambush on their
patrol vehicle in Logo Local
Government Area on Saturday.
The incident occurred in Tse
Akpam village, near Azege
town around 3:00 p.m.
Saturday afternoon while the
officers were returning from
a peace-building mission in
remote villages, Police
Commissioner, Fatai
Owoseni disclosed.
In the ensuing gun battle,
one of the Police patrol vans
caught fire and four of the
Policemen ,who were not seen
after the attack were declared
missing.
Two of the missing officers
were later found alive on
Sunday and have since rejoined
their colleagues while the
search for the remaining two

JUSTICE Sybil Nwaka of the
Sexual Offences and
Domestic Violence Court,
yesterday through a video clip,
heard how a two years, 11-
month old pupil of a popular
private school in Lagos was
defiled by the school’s
Supervisor.
The video recording was
played during the testimony of
Miss Olive Ogedengbe in the
criminal trial of Adegboyega
Adenekan, 47, a Supervisor of
the school.
In the proceedings, which
lasted for almost five hours, the
witness, who is a clinical
psychologist, narrated to the
court how the defilement was
carried out by the Supervisor.
The video recording depicted
the child in the clinical

“In 2017, precisely, on
December 14, another one
happened. This time, it was
the turn of one master

child further, asked: “Where
is Mr. Adenekan’s wee
wee?”
The child pointed to her
private area.
Ogedengbe: Does he put
his wee wee in your wee
wee?”
The child: Yes.

Reacting, the Imo Police Public
Relations Officer, Enwrem, told
them that the Commissioner of
Police will get their letter and
will take appropriate action.
