Client Organization
The New Bedford Barber Company is a new age barbershop located
at 98 William St. in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Even though it is new
age, it still has an old school feel. The theme is modern, but rustic. Classy,
with strength.
An array of services are offered at the New Bedford Barber
Company. In addition to haircuts, beard trimming, hot towel shaves, straight
razor shaves, and eyebrow work are also available. To insure a specific
time, it is best to make an appointment. However, walk-ins are always
welcome, if time is not an issue.
The New Bedford Barber Company is excited to be part of the city’s
efforts to revitalize New Bedford and the downtown area. The barbershop
is proud of the city, and helps to promote it by displaying art work, about
New Bedford, done by local artists. It is one of many establishments that is
helping to breathe life back into a tired city. The revitalization process is
only a handful of years old, and has already come a long way, thanks to the
New Bedford Barber Company and the other establishments involved.

New Bedford Barber Company
Process
At the beginning of the project, when we got put into groups, only one
person in the group had ties to the New Bedford Barber Company. Zach
has a cousin who is a barber there, and had been going there for haircuts.
We did some online research to get to know a little bit about our client
before going to meet them. Two of our group members went to New
Bedford on a morning before class and meet Jeff, who is one of the owners
of the shop. We asked him what he would like us to focus on, and he was
pretty open to anything. We had thought of the idea for the shop’s one-year
anniversary. Jeff was excited by the idea, so it became our main idea going
forward.
As time went on through the duration of the project, our group met a
few times when we all were free and tackled many of our assignments. As
each of the assignments in the media kit was completed, we would all have
to check over it. When we agreed it was ready, we would submit it.
While our talks with the owners of the barbershop were brief we were able
to communicate throughout the project with him if we had to clarify
anything. He seemed to be a fan of all the work we had been doing for him.

Overall, this project turned out to be more manageable than it
originally appeared. All of our group members were able to complete the
assignments in a timely manner, while learning valuable skills that we had
no knowledge of beforehand.

NEWS RELEASE
New Bedford Barber Company
Celebrates One Year in the Whaling City
New Bedford, MA - The New Bedford Barber Company, located at 98 William St, New
Bedford, MA, will be celebrating their first anniversary the second week in November
2017. Owners Ryan Tavares and Jeff St. Pierre say that over the course of the first year
in business they’ve enjoyed a lot success and want to show appreciation for all their
loyal customers who choose them over everybody else.
Tavares and St. Pierre opened the New Bedford Barber Company after noticing
a lack of good quality barbershops in the downtown New Bedford area. They created a
vibe described as “old fashioned barber shop for the modern working man”. Tavares
goes on to say “I want people to feel welcome here like they’re apart of a family”
“We were shooting for industrial meets organic, with some fishing attributes in
there as well,” said Tavares. New Bedford is known for its large fishing port that has
long defined the city. Slaves of the Sea, is a new clothing line founded by Tavares. He
uses the barbershop to help promote this clothing line. As well as having art hung up on
the wall that exemplifies the local fishermen and the work they put in. By bringing all of
these fishing attributes to the table, it really contributes to their main focus, and goal of
making everyone feel like home when they come into the barbershop.
The one year anniversary will be all about benefiting the customers, and showing
that they have evolved into a staple in downtown. The one year anniversary will include
deals from haircuts to apparel, and chances to win various products. “We want to
participate in whatever’s going on. We’ll have deals, help out with fundraisers. We just
want to take pride in our city.” said Tavares. More details will come when it’s closer to
the anniversary, but make sure you mark the second week of November down on your
calendar.
New Accounts and Improvements-
You guys are a young company but are very experienced and well informed in social media and
its use. There were no real improvements to make nor were there any accounts missing that we
could have made for you. You are professional and understand what people want to see . This is a

company that is rare in a sense because of how well you communicate with your customers,
resulting in a lot of followers on all of your accounts. You already post pictures of the haircuts and
share things happening in and around the store.
Inspirations-
You could try expanding on what you are able to offer. During our meeting you talked about while
people are waiting they get their hair shampooed, which is a great idea. It is different for a barber
shop to do that and it can be that one thing that pushes people to pick you over the competition.
Staying on the theme of a salon type feel, maybe try and bring in a hairdresser so that way you’re
able to offer something to people with longer hair. Having pictures of customers with many
different types of hair on your social media sites will highlight the variety of services.

New Bedford Barber Company
Conclusion
The New Bedford Barber Company is a new and upcoming
barbershop located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. At the beginning
stages of this project, our group met with the owners of the shop to see
what their plans were as they continued to grow. They were unsure of what
they wanted as far as promotions, so our group suggested celebrating the
one-year anniversary of their opening of the barbershop. They really liked
the idea, and thought it would be a good way to promote themselves. We
went forward, and built off that idea. The one-year anniversary celebration
will take place during the second week of November, and that will include
deals on haircuts, apparel, and various products. The product that this team
has put together will help our client with the advertising, and how to
effectively plan this event as a whole. The individual pieces of the project
will break down the planning process into segments, and help to make the
planning process less overwhelming.
Opening up this barbershop played a big role in the downtown area of
New Bedford. With the city attempting to revitalize the downtown area, the
barbershop, along with other businesses, has been able to bring people in.
Over the first year of operation, this barbershop has made a good name for
itself, having a lot of success. They really want their customers to be
happy, and for the shop to create a good vibe for everyone. This
barbershop not only gives great haircuts, but also contributes in any way
possible to make the city better. One of their main goals for this barbershop
is to connect with the city of New Bedford, and with everyone that comes
in. The owners of the shop really want to give back to the community, and
help out as much as they can. This is why they thought the idea of a one

year anniversary would be nice to celebrate. They really want to take pride
in the city, and they care a lot about how the customers feel.
As a group, we learned a lot from the New Bedford Barber Company.
They are an ambitious company, with great pride in their city. They care
deeply about their customers, as well as the people of New Bedford. We
were happy to have been a part of this new and upcoming business and
wish for them to have many more years of continued success.
