Kannawidan Festival <strong>2018</strong><br />
Celebrating Ilocos Sur’s Bicentennial Year!<br />

The opening of Museo Yloco is essential on preserving the rich<br />
culture and the historical heritage of the province of Ilocos Sur.<br />
As the province celebrating its 200 th founding anniversary, this<br />
event was relevant to all Ilocano people. It showcased the spread<br />
evolution from their early ancestors and how it reaches the<br />
progress on 21 st century.<br />
Their annual Kannawidan Festival painted a colorful storytelling<br />
of the diversity and compound historical heritage. The two-week<br />
festival offered everyone various events that showed Ilocanos<br />
traits in sheer. Every town enthusiastically presented their<br />
delicacies, crops and products that made their communities<br />
broadly relevant to the province. They successfully arrived into<br />
the one goal of uplifting the Ilocano culture and traditions that<br />
made significant contributions of the province rejoicing progress.<br />
The harmonious blend of Ilocos Sur’s natural tranquility<br />
and its people’s manifold created an addictive yenning<br />
that could last a lifetime. My experience in <strong>2018</strong><br />
Kannawidan Festival is more than a narrative about a<br />
Manila boy who fanatically welded into a totally new<br />
place. It is a heartfelt exploration of culture, tradition,<br />
history and local’s aesthetic parallelism. Hence, the<br />
tasteful learning curves brought by these rich factors left<br />
a compelling anecdote that is worth-sharing.<br />
Our ancestors’ crafted archives were nostalgically<br />
recalled through the province’s well-preserved<br />
yesteryear’s relevance. I was amazed with the great<br />
appreciation of history bonded onto the smooth phase<br />
of today’s unending changes. The province openly<br />
shared to all their people and to all habitués the weighty<br />
previous episodes of its history.<br />
As support to the colorful community of lesbians, gays, bisexual and<br />
transgenders, respect and empathy were greatly showcased in a<br />
night of pride and diversity. The father of Ilocos Sur greatly showed<br />
an inspiring manifestation of a true leader-- the one who accepts and<br />
celebrates the beautiful diversity of its people. It was a wonderful<br />
gathering of bold social truth and aesthetic learning curves.<br />
More than being a grand celebration, I personally witnessed an<br />
engaging festive event treatment that is dedicated to all the Ilocano<br />
people. The old written pieces of Ilocano’s wealthy dignified legacies<br />
swayed everyone to one spectrum of approval and rare valuing.<br />
