Commitments for the
Future
Dear CAG Community,
The start of the third trimester is a reminder that the remaining days of the school year are few and the
scholastic year ahead is quickly taking shape. This intersection of now and what is a head usually means it is
time to think of enrollment and re-enrollment for the 2018/2019 school year.
For us at CAG, March is a time we review our goals and begin to evaluate our progress and start making
commitments for the future. We see this happen in the classrooms as students, parents and teachers undergo
conferences and reflect on milestones and achievements and establish goals for the future. For our teachers,
we see this happen as colleagues throughout the school meet to discuss growth as well as outline hopes and
dreams for next year for our students, our grade levels and our academic departments.
As a school wide community, we are reflecting on the partnerships we have made with our students, families,
faculty, alumni and community leaders. This is the time of year we review the feedback we have collected and
evaluate what needs improving for the next year so that we honor our relationships with our stakeholders and
assure the community we remain committed to a legacy of excellence for which CAG is known. This reflection
process includes reviewing our surveys.
We were privileged to have received over 1000 participants partake in the community survey and over 780
parents take time to respond and comment on behalf of the work we are doing at CAG. Overall, we are proud
that our families report confidence and care for their school of choice. As we take a deep drive into the data, the
administrative team is meeting to identify the areas we recognize as strengths at CAG, as well as begin to
identify the areas our community considers important aspects to reconsider for improvement.
To make sure we are appropriately responsive to the
feedback we collected, we will work with campus leaders,
anticipate student feedback later this month and work with
faculty to establish priorities for growth and improvement.
We will look for this process to be complete in April at
which point we will report back with clear institutional
goals.
These areas will support our new programmatic initiatives
throughout the school that will advance Science education,
STEAM, student life programs that include renewed school
day schedules, student advisory, college counseling,
learning enrichment and health education, facility upgrades
as well as new partnerships to support our auxiliary
services throughout the school.
Until then, we have identified the areas of the survey that
align with the school´s strategic plan and the commitments
we have established for ongoing institutional progress.
Our goals, as result of the data will support the following
areas our community reports as important aspects for
CAG´s success;
Academic Life (teaching and learning competencies)
Student Life (extra-curricular programs and athletics)
Accountability and Leadership
Social Emotional Learning and Wellbeing
Auxiliary Programs (Security, Transportation, Cafeteria,
Medical Office and Communications)
Your feedback helps us be appropriately responsive to
school improvement plans and also supports prioritization
in meeting the needs of our students and their families. As
you prepare to re-enroll at CAG, we too prepare to
establish our commitment to your expectations. On behalf
of CAG, I wish you all a successful start to the final trimester
and a safe and blessed Samana Santa. Don´t forget to
mark your calendars for April 11th and make sure you and
your kids are the first to re-enroll for the 2018/2019 school
year!!
ELEMENTARY
CELEBRATES
LITERACY
b y J e f f R i c h a r d s o n , E S P r i n c i p a l
Earlier this month the Elementary section spent a week celebrating
reading, writing, speaking, and listening with students, teachers, and
families with Literacy Week.
The teachers were offered several opportunities to learn from each
other in various workshops and in-class observations. English and
Spanish teachers honed their skills in regards to differentiating
instruction using data and learning progressions for reading and
writing.
Meanwhile the students participated in special literacy based
activities during morning meeting that extended our curriculum. The
activities were motivating and joyful, reinforcing the fun in reading
and writing.
Two other essential parts of Literacy Week were World Read Aloud
Day and Family Literacy Night. On Thursday morning all Elementary
classrooms hosted a special visitor who shared one of their favorite
stories with the class. Then in the evening our elementary families
came together to enjoy reading, writing, speaking, and listening
activities followed by an exciting presentation in the auditorium led
by the teachers and then a talk with the visiting author, Marc
Nobleman. We were also honored to have local author and alumni,
Allen Tannenbaum join us with his mother and read his book aloud
and share a question and answer time with our families.
Literacy Week has become an important part of the elementary
school as our students' success with literacy lays the foundation for
all future learning.

Family Literacy Night
On February 15th, Alan Tenenbaum (Class of 2000) visited our
campus for Family Literacy Night. He showcased his new
children’s book “¡Teikirizi & Pa’lante! Y la Estrella de los
Sueños”. Beila Tenenbaum (Class of 1979) read the book in such
an interesting and sweet manner that all our EC and ES students
seemed to really enjoy the book. The book gave all students a
great message about teamwork. It was a very interactive
experience. Thank you, Alan, for taking the time to showcase
your book to our younger students. We hope to have more
Alumni with different talents visit us in the future.

VISIT
SCHOOL
FOR
CAREER
DAY
CAG Alumni visited our CAG campus for Career Day (Día del Profesional)
on February 21. It was extremely interesting to see our current Juniors
and Seniors so engaged in the presentations of our Alumni and our
current parents. This was an amazing opportunity for both groups to
interact with each other and for students to learn from alumni. Thank
you CAG Alumni for taking the time to visit CAG and let us learn from
your fascinating careers. We hope to have more alumni visit us in the
future to share their stories.
CAG ALUMNI VS CURRENT SOCCER TEAM
On February 9th, several
Alumni from different clases
(class of 1996, Class of 1998,
Class of 1999 and Class of
2000) visited our campus in
order to play soccer against
the current soccer team. It
was a fun and lovely
afternoon as they practiced
and then challenged each
other as teams!

STEM PROJECTS
resolver problemas, fallar y volverlo a intentar. El Engineering Design
Process, EDP, y sus diferentes etapas: Preguntar, imaginar, planificar,
crear y mejorar permite a los estudiantes abordar problemas reales y
plantear soluciones. Además, aprenden a recolectar datos, hacer
ingenio.
