LETTER FROM TOM
Hello,
If you’re a new member of the Tuthill family, welcome to Tuthill! If you’ve been around for a while, hello
again, and thank you for picking up the latest version of our Employee Handbook. We’re on a journey to
Wake the World and our paths along the way will look different from one employee to the next. What’s
important is that we’re focused on the same targets and aligned in how we’ll achieve them. This alignment,
however, is not just in what we’re doing. It’s in who we’re being.
Fortunately, we have a strong set of foundational values and behaviors to guide us along the way. The
Tuthill values of integrity, respect, responsibility, awareness, courage, and excellence play a big part in who
we are. In fact, all of them are important in the context of how we show up every day; being responsible
for our respect of others AND ourselves; doing this with integrity even when no one is “watching”; having
the awareness to proceed with excellence always; and the courage to call others forth when someone or
something doesn’t adhere to them.
Our behaviors of curiosity, clarity, grit, grace, gratitude, and love are ways our values manifest themselves.
These are things we can see in our daily lives. Curiosity shows up in the form of asking questions, for
example. Clarity shows up in our responses and in how we communicate. Grit appears in the daily rigor
required for us to achieve our goals so it’s clear if we’ve had a good day at work. Grace, gratitude, and love
are centered around the relationships we have with others AND ourselves. All of these are the Tuthill way:
the way we create a like-hearted legion of people who many of us are proud to call family.
Please help us strengthen our legion by being a stand for our values, our behaviors, and the guidelines set
forth in this handbook. This is the fabric that makes us who we are. It is our culture. It is Our Way. It
starts with each one of us. Here and now.
I am glad you are here!
INTRODUCTION
There is no such thing as common sense.
We all come from different backgrounds
with different sets of rules, communication
styles, and beliefs. What’s cool about this
diversity is that we get to come together
in workplaces like Tuthill to blend our
skills, personalities, and cultures to
create our own community. We call ours
a community of like-hearted people with
astounding impact.
By blending the Tuthill Business System
(TBS) tools with Conscious Company
philosophies, we have a very powerful
blend of ingredients for the recipe that
makes us who we are at Tuthill. The truth
is, however, that these two ingredients
alone don’t carry us across the finish line.
It’s the people of Tuthill who do. It’s you.
As humans with connection and tribal
belonging in our DNA, we yearn to
understand the responsibilities we have as
members of the communities we belong
to. This handbook contains an overview of
Tuthill’s policies as well as copies of the
policies themselves. The full legal policy
documents are located in the back flap of
this folder, or in the Appendix for those
viewing this electronically. Please take
whatever time is required to understand
these and ask your manager if you need
additional clarity. We’re counting on you
to abide by these guidelines so that our
community continues to be one where
hearts can thrive.
OUR BEHAVIORS
7

CONFIDENTIALITY
During the course of your employment with Tuthill, you will be exposed to certain
confidential information concerning Tuthill and its business. Tuthill requires that you keep
such information confidential both during and after your employment with the Company.
Maintaining confidentiality helps to preserve the fabric that makes us who we are so that
we can support flourishing families and spirited communities for years to come.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
It’s not uncommon for people to earn some extra money with a side gig here and there.
We ask that our employees discuss any outside employment with their managers so
that we can look-out for each of our best interests. It’s important that this additional
work does not interfere with your work at Tuthill as it can impact safety, security of
information, and even the energy of the workplace. Out of respect for one another and to
prevent distractions at work, soliciting any form of information that promotes any outside
organization not affiliated with Tuthill.
EMPLOYEE INVENTIONS
Making real things that really make a difference demands innovation. Our growth strategy
includes producing new products for foundational markets. As our employees blend their
skills with a keen understanding of what our customers want, innovation happens. New
ideas, discoveries, and inventions come to life. This intellectual property is Tuthill’s
and we’ll protect it with all our heart using whatever means possible, including filing for
patents and copyrights.
PROTECTING
OUR
INGENUITY

USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
We’re very connected in the workplace. Not just to each other, but to our data networks.
Many of us use equipment, software, and resources owned by Tuthill such as computers
and smart phones. This equipment, as well as the network that provides us with our data,
must all be treated with respect. Think of these items as tools for the job and nothing
more. Use them as intended; to better communicate with one another, our customers,
and our suppliers.
SOCIAL MEDIA
To share or not to share? That is the question. In today’s always-connected digital world
people are often tempted to share their personal experiences. These social media rules and
guidelines exist to provide clarity around when and how to share your Tuthill experiences.
As stated in our brand statement from Tuthill’s Compass, “It all starts with me. Here.
Now.” This is a reminder of how each and every one of us make the Tuthill brand what it
is.
We’re always having an impact. We want Tuthill employees to live by our values and
behaviors when engaging in digital arenas including social media, blogs, other types of
self-published online journals and collaborative Web-based discussion forums including,
but not limited to, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, and Google+. This
applies to when you are participating personally, as well as when you are acting on behalf
of the company.
9

RESPECT
SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Tuthill is a stand for aliveness and there are many substances out there that can harm
ourselves and others. We say no to numb. All activities that have anything to do with illegal
or unauthorized drugs or alcohol on company premises or while on company business are
strictly prohibited. We also encourage our employees to be responsible on their own time
as well. Abusing any substance that impacts on-the-job behaviors that negatively affect
our company will result in corrective action up to and including immediate termination.
As a conscious company, we will do what’s necessary to maintain awareness of these
situations through testing and inspection. We love and respect our employees and are
willing to assist those with substance abuse problems seek voluntary treatment with full
confidentiality.
EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMPANY
As mentioned in the introductory letter, we have a diverse community of people working at
Tuthill. Our Equal Employment Opportunity Company (EEOC) policy simply clarifies that
we’ll employ anyone suited for the job without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, age, disability or genetics. Simply stated, we will not make any determination of
how fit someone is for a role at Tuthill based on anything outside of the job description,
which includes values and/or behaviors and skills. We are an affirmative action employer.

ANTI-HARASSMENT
Many of our values and behaviors are rooted in human dignity. Harassment is one of the
worst ways of damaging someone’s dignity. It also damages positive working relationships
and crumbles the trust-based foundation of our like-hearted community and will ultimately
harm our business. The Tuthill values and behaviors strongly encourage behaviors that
honor human dignity, and we’d still like to take a moment to add some clarity to what we
consider harassment.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE & WEAPONS
We make space for hearts to thrive and an environment that isn’t safe, supportive,
and professional greatly hinders this. Employees who attempt to intimidate or commit
violence against anyone – fellow employee, customer, vendor, or guest – will be subject
to discipline up to and including termination. And because potentially criminal conduct
may be involved, we may also notify appropriate legal authorities.
Workplace safety also requires that we ban all weapons from Tuthill premises, including
vehicles in Tuthill parking lots. Specifically, guns, knives (blades over 3 inches long),
explosives, and any other item which the company determines has the potential to inflict
harm are prohibited.
WHISTLE-BLOWER
Upholding our values and behaviors is everyone’s responsibility at Tuthill. When you see
something happening that you believe isn’t in alignment with the environment we want to
create please share this via our 24x7 employee hotline. Some examples of things to report
include on-the-job drug or alcohol abuse, harassment, discrimination, theft, property
damage, fraudulent activity, health or safety issues, violations of company policies or
procedures, or violations of applicable laws and regulations. Raising awareness of these
issues is the first step to resolution. Remember, all reported violations are handled
confidentially. Please be timely in reporting anything you see to maintain the well-being
of all Tuthill employees.
11

FLOURISHING

BENEFITS
At Tuthill we understand that the benefits offered to care for you and your loved ones
through our organization are just as important (if not more) then your compensation.
Your local Human Resources team will be able to provide you with further details on our
Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, Life Insurance, STD/LTD, Retirement Program, Paid Time
Off, Holiday Schedule, and any Flexible Work Arrangements offered that your role may be
eligible for.
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
We dare to make better in our processes, in our products, and in our people. Because
we encourage our employees to continue their education and to acquire the skills and
knowledge relative to their employment for their own self-development and the benefit
of the company we will reimburse eligible employees for 100% of tuition, lab fees, and
textbooks up to $5000 per calendar year. Yes, there is some fine print about where you
can go, successful completion, and what happens if you leave Tuthill. You can read all
about it in the back of this handbook where you’ll find the full Education Assistance Policy.
The bottom line is that we want you to stretch into the learning zone, with ownership and
accountability on your journey.
COMPENSATION
Our ingenious company not only supports
spirited communities, but flourishing
families as well. One of the many
components of families that flourish is
the financial one. Tuthill determines
each employee’s pay rate on an individual
basis and bases this rate upon several
considerations such as job duties, market
standards for comparable jobs, the
company’s overall business condition,
job performance, attendance record, and
conduct. Payroll periods are weekly and
bi-weekly with paydays being on Fridays.
FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT
Sometimes in life you simply need more
time. Illness, family problems, pregnancy,
or child rearing can suddenly place
enormous demands on your schedule.
Flourishing families are part of our vision
and FMLA can provide you with unpaid
time to take care of what’s necessary to
keep your family flourishing—allowing
you to take unpaid leave when you really
need it for family or medical reasons. To
be eligible, employees are required to be
employed for 12 months and have worked
at least 1,250 hours.
FAMILIES
13

RELOCATION
Like-hearted communities are made up of people who care about one another and the
greater good that the community represents. There are times when opportunities to
support our business arise and relocation is requested. In these situations, we want to
make that move as easy as possible. Tuthill will provide financial support for employees
that are stepping into roles in new locations.
BUSINESS TRAVEL & ENTERTAINMENT
Whether it’s visiting customers or suppliers, volunteering with cause partners, or going
on other trips that take employees out of the office, we want to make this as easy as
possible. It’s your responsibility to travel using your best judgment and to collect required
receipts. Transportation, hotels, meals, and some entertainment expenses are covered
under this policy. Use your Tuthill credit card so that you don’t have to incur out-ofpocket
expenses. Remember that our people are our brand and that you represent Tuthill
when you’re traveling. Respect local cultures, spread aliveness, follow the law, and be
safe at all times.
OUR VALUES

Holding Each Other Great
MILITARY LEAVE
We understand that some of our employees will be required to perform military duty in the
armed forces voluntarily or involuntarily. Tuthill’s Military leave policy proudly complies
with the Uniformed Services Employment And Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
Eligible employees will receive benefits according to this policy for up to five years of
absence given that advance notice is provided and that the employee was discharged
honorably from the military. We are forever grateful to those who allow us to live the lives
we have.
15

OUR STORY
Tuthill has always been a company with heart. In our early days, we
made the bricks that helped make Chicago, relying on horses to carry
the clay. Some days, the heat and haul were too much for their hearts -
and ours - to bear. So we created an oil pump to power a truck, saving
our four-legged friends and laying the foundation for our future.
All of us are born with a pump inside: our hearts. As children, this
original pump fueled our dreams and our creations. As adults, our
hearts continue to pump, but are they truly thriving? At our core, the
energy is still there. We yearn to release it - to open our eyes wider,
reach our arms out farther, and do what makes our hearts beat faster.
Today, we make pumps, blowers, vacuums, and meters, daring to make
them better every day. But the original pump - the heart - is still at our
company’s core. We’re on a journey to become a Conscious Company,
inviting the entire Tuthill community to come alive in everything we
believe, say, and create. And we’re extending that invitation beyond our
walls. To have a seismic impact on our world, all hearts are vital. When
our hearts are awake, our energy is contagious, and we make ripples
that can move millions. The world needs people who are alive from the
heart. Because when we come alive, the world comes along.
