Simply Action
Everyone in sport develops there own delivery, action or technique.
But making it simple is the key. A bowls delivery can be related to
throwing a tennis ball. Think about it, for you to throw a tennis ball to
another person you have determine how hard to throw it, and how
high to aim it, to reach its player.
It is the same with bowls, however you roll the bowl. Judging how
hard you have to roll is done by looking at an aiming point and
objective target. Once you get your aiming point, your mind then
judges how far to roll it.
Some key points to get your mat routine started is as follow:
Before stepping on the mat, check your bias and put the bowl in your
hand. Your grip should feel comfortable, with your middle finger
running through the centre of the bowl with either picture on the side.
Stand on the mat with one foot and point that foot at your aiming
point. Bring your other foot to be positioned comfortably next to the
first foot.
Swing your arm back and step with your opposite foot. Just like
throwing a tennis ball but underarm.
Your opposite hand rests on your knee to help assist with balance.
Get down low and release the bowl.
Once the bowl is released, stand up and watch where your bowl
finishes.
Remember, watch your bowl so you will know how to correct it next
time.
The above information is just a basic understanding for a delivery.
