Brevard County has a treasure trove of activities,
and the FLORIDA TODAY Fact Book is the

In addition to watching rockets soaring over
the beach, one of the most celebrated attractions
for tourists and residents alike is the Kennedy
Space Center Visitors Complex’s $100 million
attraction, Space Shuttle Atlantis.
Our 72-mile-long county offers countless opportunities
for nature lovers, from strolling
along our ample beaches and kayaking lagoons,
to ÿshing our rivers and enjoying picnics in public
parks, to biking numerous nature trails.
Those loving the arts and entertainment will
ÿnd an unending array of activities. Theater
patrons frequently rave about the six community
theaters here.
Visual artists regularly exhibit in area galleries
and street festivals; dance companies perform
throughout the year.
Port Canaveral is the world’s second-busiest
cruise port, trailing the Port of Miami in cruise
passenger volume. Brevard County’s seaport is
the home port of Carnival, Disney, Norwegian
and Royal Caribbean cruise ships.
The port also is home to popular Jetty Park,
Exploration Tower, and the Cove restaurant and
retail district. And, of course, it’s one of the
many places to launch your boat.
The Brevard Zoo in Melbourne has been
ranked among the top 20 zoos in the country.
Florida Tech runs the county’s two ÿne art
museums and curates vivid exhibitions.
The Maxwell C. King Center in Melbourne is
celebrating its 30th year, presenting worldrenowned
musical and stage acts, from Jerry
Seinfeld to the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
