Baseball, softball: District 2 and<br />

District 22 Little League, the<br />

governing body for Little League<br />

baseball and softball in <strong>Brevard</strong>,<br />

consists of 20 leagues from Mims<br />

to Palm Bay. Opening day for<br />

most leagues is in late February<br />

or early March, and play continues<br />

until the last of the All-<br />

Star tournaments in July and<br />

August.<br />

Babe Ruth leagues: <strong>Brevard</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken<br />

Baseball League offers games for<br />

children ages 4 to 18 and includes<br />

softball for girls and a physically<br />

challenged division for players<br />

through the age of 20 called<br />

“Buddy Ball.” The league selects<br />

an All-Star team to participate in<br />

regional, district, state and national<br />

Babe Ruth tournaments.<br />

program for children ages 6 to 18.<br />

Cat 5 Softball: Girls’ fast-pitch<br />

softball organization is sanctioned<br />

with ISA, NSA, USSSA and<br />

ASA organizations. Cat 5 has<br />

three teams and levels of play for<br />

Central <strong>Brevard</strong> Youth Basketball<br />

League: The league is affiliated<br />

with the Orlando Magic<br />

professional basketball team and<br />

the <strong>Brevard</strong> Bulls AAU program<br />

and sponsors competitive and<br />

recreational youth basketball<br />

Club: Conducts wrestling practice<br />

Palm Bay Youth Softball Association:<br />

League focuses on learning<br />

and teamwork for children<br />

ages 3 to 18 throughout <strong>Brevard</strong>.<br />

Play is offered in the spring and<br />

Pop Warner Youth Football and<br />

Cheerleading: <strong>Brevard</strong> has five<br />

programs that participate in the<br />

Mid-Florida Conference of the<br />

Pop Warner Youth Football and<br />

Cheerleading Association. The<br />

organization provides sports and<br />

scholastic opportunities. It offers<br />

five football/cheerleading divisions<br />

and a flag football division<br />

for children ages 5 to 16. Practices<br />

Police Athletic Leagues: Groups<br />

established across <strong>Brevard</strong> focus<br />

on several sporting events, including<br />

basketball, soccer and<br />

football, and provide youth leadership<br />

and educational activities,<br />

Quick Start Tennis: Designed to<br />

teach tennis to children younger<br />

than 10, the program offers<br />

lessons at the Viera Community<br />

<strong>Brevard</strong> Youth Soccer League:<br />

The league consists of 15 clubs<br />

across <strong>Brevard</strong> and Indian River<br />

counties for children ages 4 to 19.<br />

Traditionally, more than 10,000<br />

athletes participate in these<br />

clubs. The Outreach Program for<br />

Soccer coaches children ages 5<br />

to 19 with mental and physical<br />

Viera Soccer Club: The club<br />

offers soccer instruction and<br />

games for children ages 4 to 11,<br />
