Frank Burke<br />

Frank Burke, 87, of Mokena,<br />

formerly of Dolton and Park Forest,<br />

died March 9.<br />

Burke was the loving husband<br />

of Dr. Mary Burke (Hull); beloved<br />

father of Anita (James) Mason,<br />

Catherine Burke and Brendan<br />

Burke; dearest brother of Late Teresa<br />

(late Denis) Beeforth, Mary<br />

(Bill) Ryan, Nancy (Tom) Henry,<br />

late Veronica Mattera, Bernadette<br />

(late Desmond) Lynch, late Joseph<br />

(late Kathleen) Burke, Noel<br />

(Ann) Burke and Colette (Quaseem)<br />

Blan; cherished grandfather<br />

of Dylan Mason; and devoted uncle<br />

of many nieces and nephews,<br />

and many cousins.<br />

Frank was a member of the Irish<br />

Musician’s Association, and he<br />

enjoyed playing the fiddle. In lieu<br />

of flowers memorial donations to<br />

the Irish Musician’s Association<br />

would be appreciated.<br />

Leif Sigurd Skrodal<br />

Leif Sigurd Skrodal, 94, of Mokena,<br />

formerly of Frankfort, died<br />

March 13.<br />

He was the loving husband<br />

of Gudrun (Malmer); beloved<br />

father of Arne (Sue) Skrodal,<br />

Robert (Marisa) Skrodal and<br />

Linda (James) Bluhm; cherished<br />

grandfather of Danielle, Erika,<br />

Ian, Emma, Haakon, Hanna and<br />

Jack; dearest great-grandfather<br />

of Claire and Emily; dear brother<br />

of the late Einar Skrodal, JoRgen<br />

Skrodal, Olav Skrodal and<br />

Ragnhild Johansen; and uncle of<br />

many nieces and nephews.<br />

Skordal was a veteran of the<br />

Norwegian Army serving in<br />

WWII, a member of Sons of Norway,<br />

Immanuel Lutheran Church<br />

and Carpenters Union Local 434.<br />

Skordal was an amazing whistler<br />

and tenor in his church choir.<br />

Milton George<br />

Milton George,<br />

89, of Mokena, died<br />

March 12.<br />

George was preceded in death<br />

by his parents Beatrice and Michael<br />

George, first wife Nancy<br />

Louise (Pfeiffer) and daughter<br />

Judith.<br />

George is survived by his wife<br />

Lois (Horsky); brother Louie<br />

(Mary); sons Milton (JoAnn)<br />

and Edwin (Heather); daughter<br />

Nancy (Wayne) Thornsbury;<br />

grandchildren Amanda, Heather<br />

(Brandon) Santos, Nick, Michael,<br />

Emilia, and Maxwell;<br />

great-grandchildren Claire, Lily<br />

and Emily; nieces Michelle and<br />

Linette (Andy); nephew Steve; as<br />

well as numerous relatives in the<br />

Czech Republic.<br />

George had a long military career<br />

that began in 1948 with the<br />

U.S. Naval Reserve. He enlisted<br />

in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1976,<br />

retiring with honors in 1988 with<br />

40 years of consecutive combined<br />

military service with the rank of<br />

E9, Sargent Major. He also served<br />

on the Palos Heights volunteer<br />

fire department from 1952-1961<br />

and served on the Palos Heights<br />

Police Department as a patrolman<br />

from 1959-1974.<br />
