Frank Burke
Frank Burke, 87, of Mokena,
formerly of Dolton and Park Forest,
died March 9.
Burke was the loving husband
of Dr. Mary Burke (Hull); beloved
father of Anita (James) Mason,
Catherine Burke and Brendan
Burke; dearest brother of Late Teresa
(late Denis) Beeforth, Mary
(Bill) Ryan, Nancy (Tom) Henry,
late Veronica Mattera, Bernadette
(late Desmond) Lynch, late Joseph
(late Kathleen) Burke, Noel
(Ann) Burke and Colette (Quaseem)
Blan; cherished grandfather
of Dylan Mason; and devoted uncle
of many nieces and nephews,
and many cousins.
Frank was a member of the Irish
Musician’s Association, and he
enjoyed playing the fiddle. In lieu
of flowers memorial donations to
the Irish Musician’s Association
would be appreciated.
Leif Sigurd Skrodal
Leif Sigurd Skrodal, 94, of Mokena,
formerly of Frankfort, died
March 13.
He was the loving husband
of Gudrun (Malmer); beloved
father of Arne (Sue) Skrodal,
Robert (Marisa) Skrodal and
Linda (James) Bluhm; cherished
grandfather of Danielle, Erika,
Ian, Emma, Haakon, Hanna and
Jack; dearest great-grandfather
of Claire and Emily; dear brother
of the late Einar Skrodal, JoRgen
Skrodal, Olav Skrodal and
Ragnhild Johansen; and uncle of
many nieces and nephews.
Skordal was a veteran of the
Norwegian Army serving in
WWII, a member of Sons of Norway,
Immanuel Lutheran Church
and Carpenters Union Local 434.
Skordal was an amazing whistler
and tenor in his church choir.
In lieu of flowers memorial
donations to Immanuel Lutheran
Church or Joliet Area Community
Hospice would be appreciated.
Milton George
Milton George,
89, of Mokena, died
March 12.
George was preceded in death
by his parents Beatrice and Michael
George, first wife Nancy
Louise (Pfeiffer) and daughter
Judith.
George is survived by his wife
Lois (Horsky); brother Louie
(Mary); sons Milton (JoAnn)
and Edwin (Heather); daughter
Nancy (Wayne) Thornsbury;
grandchildren Amanda, Heather
(Brandon) Santos, Nick, Michael,
Emilia, and Maxwell;
great-grandchildren Claire, Lily
and Emily; nieces Michelle and
Linette (Andy); nephew Steve; as
well as numerous relatives in the
Czech Republic.
George had a long military career
that began in 1948 with the
U.S. Naval Reserve. He enlisted
in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1976,
retiring with honors in 1988 with
40 years of consecutive combined
military service with the rank of
E9, Sargent Major. He also served
on the Palos Heights volunteer
fire department from 1952-1961
and served on the Palos Heights
Police Department as a patrolman
from 1959-1974.
