The Powhatan walked and paddled canoes made from trees.<br />
They made <strong>the</strong>ir canoes from trees. They used <strong>the</strong> canoes in<br />
lakes and rivers so <strong>the</strong>y could fish for food.<br />
The Lakota moved around <strong>the</strong> regi<strong>on</strong> to hunt buffalo.<br />
At first <strong>the</strong>y walked, pulling <strong>the</strong>ir bel<strong>on</strong>gings<br />
behind <strong>the</strong>m. Later <strong>the</strong>y used horses for<br />

fast across <strong>the</strong> flat plains. That was great for<br />
hunting buffalo!<br />
