Breaking Free from
the Shackles of Unforgiveness
EVICT THE MENTAL SQUATTERS
If you want to succeed, you need to learn to delete
negative mental habits that pull you down instead of
pushing you up.
Here’s a fact: According to studies, 87% of our
self-talk is negative. Only about 12% is positive. That
87% is what I call trash thinking.
That’s why God wants to renew our minds.
The Bible says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind.” (Romans 12:2) Your mind is the real battlefield. If
you win in your mind, you win in your life.
Some tell me, “But Bo, I can’t stop my negative
thoughts!”
Yes, you can’t stop any negative thought from
entering your mind. But you can stop a negative
thought from building a mansion in the real estate of
your mind.
Evict the mental squatters. You can’t delete each
negative thought but you can delete the pattern of
negativity in your thoughts.
Have a liberating Feast today!
May your dreams come true,
GET RID OF UNFORGIVENESS
BIG DAY
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that
your sins may be wiped out, that times
of refreshing may come from the Lord
– Acts 3:19
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them,
for they do not know what they are
doing.”
–Luke 23: 34
One of the criminals who hung there
hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the
Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
–Luke 23: 39
But the other criminal rebuked him.
“Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since
you are under the same sentence?
We are punished justly, for we are
getting what our deeds deserve. But
this man has done nothing wrong.”
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me
when you come into your kingdom.
–Luke 23: 40-42
Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you,
today you will be with me in paradise.”
–Luke 23: 43
Let me tell you about the story of two brothers named Esau and
Jacob. Esau was older than Jacob.
During their time, being the eldest meant you have the right to
your family’s inheritance. Only the first-born enjoyed this privilege.
This made Jacob very jealous of his brother.
One day, Jacob pretended to be his brother and
managed to fool their dad, Isaac, into bestowing the blessing
on him instead. But after that, fearful of his life because of Esau’s
anger, he ran away from home – for 20 years. Jacob got the
blessing only to find out it was a burden.
Unforgiveness is a burden in disguise. It looks like a
blessing at first. You may get some satisfaction over knowing that
you were rid of someone toxic in your life.
But sooner or later, if you don’t get rid of unforgiveness,
thoughts of revenge and retribution will be planted in your heart.
And the toxic person you thought you got rid of will be replaced
by more dangerous toxins that will steal your peace and joy.
Get rid of unforgiveness by lifting it up to God. He wants
to give you a spiritual heart surgery – a heart transplant.
I pray for your full healing today.
In Him,
MY FEAST VIDEO STORY
Monday Gathering for Angels
Timothy Quintos writes how Acacia Angel Ate Vilma Retoran,
31, and fellow kasambahays –Suzette Sayam and Genalyn
Tambot, organized their own weekly prayer gathering.
“Parang imposible naman yata yung iniisip natin,” Vilma,
a native of Aklan who came to Manila to work for a family, told
Suzette.”
They had just come from The Feast Bay Area with their
employers Ronald and Anna Rellera and their children. The Rellera
couple have already been holding Feast Light Family, more
popularly known as Feast Video at their home and Vilma and
Suzette wondered how they could invite their friends to this session
where they would be watching a recording of Bro. Bo Sanchez’s
talks and discuss it afterward and end with a prayer.
During the interview, Vilma tells this writer, “Si Kuya Ronald
at Ate Anna, parang pamilya ang turing sa amin. Kaya minsan,
nakasama din kami sa Feast. Ang saya namin. Kaya naisip naming
mag-Feast Video din.”
Is it really possible for us to start our own Feast Video? Who
are we but mere helpers? Who will listen to us? Where would we get
our own equipment? Plus, we don’t even have our own place. These
were the questions the duo asked themselves when they were
weighing the possibility of setting up a Feast in their neighborhood.
“Talaga?”
“Si Kuya Ronald at si Ate Anna na raw ang bahala sa lahat
para puwede na nating simulan ang sarili nating Feast Video.”
The two were very happy.
In October 2016, with the blessings of their bosses, they
launched their own prayer meeting and named it Feast Video
Acacia Angels. The group gathers every Monday from 8:30 to 9:30
PM at the Rellera home in Acacia, Taguig.
It was not easy at the beginning. Some of the friends they
asked declined their invitation. “Busy raw kasi sila.”
They faced other challenges like Suzette had to go
home to Bacolod to take care of her sick sister. Her replacement,
Genalyn Tambot, was also eager to help out in the mission.
Unfortunately, she too had to go back home to grieve the death of
her daughter.
Today, they have 10 regular attendees every week. In
that part of Taguig, Monday night has become an opportunity for
these kasambahays to bond with each other and to spend time
listening to God’s Word and Bro. Bo’s teachings.
“Dahil sa Feast Video, lumalim ang faith namin. Marami
kaming natutunan, gaya sa health, finances and relationships,”
Vilma ends.
Bro. Ronald Rellera is the Feast Light Family Regional
Coordinator of Mega Manila.
You too can start your own Feast Light Family, otherwise
known as Feast Video at home, in school or in your office.
Personal Reflection
• Share how this series made an impact in your life.
• Are there still people in your life you need to forgive?
Pray for them.
Vilma Retoran, right, head of the Feast Acacia Angels, Suzette Sayam, left, with
fellow kasambahays, and their employer, Anna Rellera, front, and during one of
their Monday night gatherings.
2
“Hindi ko talaga alam ang gagawin o kung paano sisimulan
pero alam kong dapat talaga namin itong gawin,” Vilma said.
Then one day, after eating lunch, Suzette ventured to ask
their boss, Anna.
After their conversation, Suzette immediately searched for
Vilma in the house.
“Vilma, yung pinoproblema natin sinagot na ni Lord,”
Suzette said.

SCENES FROM LAST SUNDAY
“Forgiveness is an
action. Jesus is not
asking you to feel
like forgiving. He
is asking you to
forgive.”
– Bro. Bo Sanchez
“Two important things we need to learn
to say and do: Thank you and Sorry to God
and to others.” – Bro. Audee Villaraza
◀ Sharer Julius Nagpigas, a
Senior High School student
from Payatas says that despite
his pride and losing faith
in Jesus and turning away
from His love, the Lord never
stopped loving him. He came
to understand the immense
and relentless love that God
has for him through the
life-transforming blessings
he received and continues to
receive.
RECAP
Gospel Reading According to to John
12:20-33 Jesus Predicts His Death
“Everything that makes our lives precious is
anchored in our intimacy with the Father.”
“Yung masyadong
in-love sa sarili,
mawawalan.
Hindi magiging
masaya.”
–Fr. Ryan Barrios
– Fr. Paul Uwemedimo
Sometimes, we love only those who can love us
back or when we know we will get something
back. But to follow Christ, we have to be like Him
and love Him and our neighbors as He did and
give our love fully without expecting anything in
return.
Series: UNLEASHED
Breaking Free from the Shackles
of Unforgiveness
Talk 3: Freeing Others
BIG MESSAGE:
Set yourself free.
Many think that forgiveness means
liberating those who wronged us. But it actually
works the other way around. When we forgive,
we free ourselves from the prison of torment,
bitterness and anger. We become liberated
when we choose to forgive. Letting go of our
hurts sets us free.
Forgiveness is NOT a feeling. It is an action
of the Spirit. Two extremes when it comes to
treating our feelings in our modern world:
We AVOID our feelings by being busy with
work or entertainment. Doctors say that 85%
of all illnesses are psychosomatic, or caused
by built-up stress and buried, unprocessed
emotions. To heal our bodies, we need to heal
our emotions.
We ADORE our feelings. We have this wrong
way of defining ourselves through our feelings.
The truth: our habitual actions define us. To love
and to forgive are habitual actions, not just mere
feelings that come and go. Also, we equate
feelings with authenticity. Hypocrisy is not when
our actions don’t jive with our feelings. It’s when
our actions don’t jive with our words. We are not
asked to feel like forgiving, rather we are asked to
forgive.
Forgiveness is NOT an event. It is a journey.
When we surrender our unforgiveness to God,
He journeys with us every step of the way.
Sometimes, the journey is short, sometimes, long.
Forgiveness is NOT necessarily friendship.
There are times when it is best for both parties to
forgive each other but live separate lives.
Forgiveness is many things, but most
especially, it is a profound act of self-love, of
setting ourselves free.
Whether our offender asks for forgiveness or
not, whether they recognize the offense or not,
we choose to set ourselves free. Jesus asks us not
to feel like forgiving. He asks us to forgive.
