reserve is home to the Ground Hornbill Project. Launched in 1999, this conservation
initiative strives to combat the declining number of the endangered Southern
Ground Hornbill, of which there are only about 1500 left in South Africa. Mabula
has also helped reintroduced cheetahs to the reserve, monitoring their patterns and
population in order to help conserve these beautiful creatures.
