NATURE PROGRAMS FOR PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN<br />

SATURDAYS IN NATURE<br />

This program is held on the fourth S<strong>at</strong>urday of each month <strong>at</strong> the Edith L.<br />

Moore N<strong>at</strong>ure Sanctuary, held between 1 and 4 PM. A guided n<strong>at</strong>ure walk will<br />

begin <strong>at</strong> 2 PM. No reserv<strong>at</strong>ions required. Don<strong>at</strong>ions are encouraged. This is a<br />

“whole family” program; parents or other adult guardians should particip<strong>at</strong>e<br />

with their children. Park in the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church<br />

parking lot <strong>at</strong> 12955 Memorial Drive, enter the n<strong>at</strong>ure sanctuary through the<br />

marked g<strong>at</strong>e and proceed on the p<strong>at</strong>h to the log cabin. Upcoming programs<br />

include <strong>April</strong>: Bird W<strong>at</strong>ching - Craft: TP Binoculars.<br />

The Titmouse Club<br />

The Titmouse Club is a n<strong>at</strong>ure program for children ages 2 ½ to 5 sponsored<br />

by the Houston Audubon Docent Guild. The program is offered every Tuesday<br />

and Wednesday morning, 10 to 11 AM, from mid-September until mid-May <strong>at</strong><br />

the Edith L. Moore N<strong>at</strong>ure Sanctuary, 440 Wilchester Boulevard. Each week<br />

fe<strong>at</strong>ures a different n<strong>at</strong>ure theme and may include n<strong>at</strong>ure talks, stories,<br />

hands-on activities and walks in the woods. For more inform<strong>at</strong>ion, go to<br />

www.houstonaudubon.org and look under Audubon Docents. The cost is $5<br />

per child per session or a 5-session card can be purchased for $20. The child<br />

must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Park in the Memorial<br />

After School N<strong>at</strong>ure Explorers Club<br />

N<strong>at</strong>ure Explorers Club is designed for school-age children (ages 6-10, K-5 th )<br />

who are interested in investig<strong>at</strong>ing the n<strong>at</strong>ural world. Each month we will<br />

explore a different ecology topic, focusing on our own n<strong>at</strong>ive plants and<br />

animals. We will make a craft to take home, go on a n<strong>at</strong>ure hike, dip-net for<br />

fish and tadpoles in the ponds and get to know the plants and animals of<br />

the Bayou City! Fee/reserv<strong>at</strong>ions are required. Reserve your child’s spot <strong>at</strong><br />

WILD WEST BREWFEST<br />

May 5 th<br />

The Wild West Brewfest is gearing up for its 7 th year! Over $600,000 raised<br />

for charities in the past 6 years. Tickets on sale now! Held on May 5 th <strong>at</strong> K<strong>at</strong>y<br />

Mills Mall (5000 K<strong>at</strong>y Mills Circle) The Wild West Brewfest is the only one of<br />

its kind in K<strong>at</strong>y! This event will fe<strong>at</strong>ure 150+ Specialty Craft Brewers from<br />

various loc<strong>at</strong>ions all around the country while fe<strong>at</strong>uring over 600 individualized<br />

craft brews!<br />

VIP ticket holders get in one hour early (2 PM) to enjoy the wonderful liquid<br />

th<strong>at</strong> will be offered on property while general Admission opens <strong>at</strong> 3<br />

PM - event ends <strong>at</strong> 9 PM. The event will fe<strong>at</strong>ure many zones th<strong>at</strong> will be of<br />

particular interest to the p<strong>at</strong>ron. Multiple Beer Gardens, Game zones, music<br />

throughout the event, several food trucks and much more, not to mention<br />

over 600 different varieties of beer!<br />

P<strong>at</strong>rons can enjoy discounted tickets <strong>at</strong> local hotels along with free transport<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

to and from the event. Staying true to its roots, the Wild West<br />

Brewfest is defiantly one of a kind by giving away 100% of its net profits to<br />

local charities. All proceeds will help support K<strong>at</strong>y area non-profit organiz<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
