THE Police in Lagos State
have begun investigation
into the death of a 35-year-old
man, who drowned in the
swimming pool of a hotel in
Ishashi area of the state,
weekend.
The deceased, identified
simply as Sikiru, checked into
the hotel and went to the
swimming pool in the company
of his girlfriend of an
undisclosed identity, who
promptly disappeared when the
incident occurred.

LAGOS—A late night scuffle
with his girlfriend has
exposed a 20-year-old robbery
suspect, whose gang specialised
in robbing motorists on Third
Mainland Bridge with a toy
gun.
The suspect, Rilwan Wasiu,
has been arrested by operatives
of the Rapid Response Squad,
RRS, of the Lagos State Police
Command.
RRS operatives sighted the
suspect beating his girlfriend
late at night by the road side and
when they stopped to mediate
in the dispute, a toy gun fell off
the body of the suspect.
The suspect had attempted to
run away immediately the toy
gun fell off his body, but he was
promptly apprehended and
taken to the RRS headquarters
in Alausa, Ikeja.
According to the suspect, “I
found it where I was sleeping
under Adeniji Adele Bridge. I
picked it up to go and destroy it
before the misunderstanding
with my girlfriend.”
However, on further
interrogation, the suspect
confessed that he belongs to a
three-man robbery team that
specialised in dispossessing
stranded motorists and passersby
of their belongings around

after working as bus conductors
during the day.
