THE Police in Lagos State<br />

have begun investigation<br />

into the death of a 35-year-old<br />

man, who drowned in the<br />

swimming pool of a hotel in<br />

Ishashi area of the state,<br />

weekend.<br />

The deceased, identified<br />

simply as Sikiru, checked into<br />

the hotel and went to the<br />

swimming pool in the company<br />

of his girlfriend of an<br />

undisclosed identity, who<br />

promptly disappeared when the<br />

incident occurred.<br />

LAGOS—A late night scuffle<br />

with his girlfriend has<br />

exposed a 20-year-old robbery<br />

suspect, whose gang specialised<br />

in robbing motorists on Third<br />

Mainland Bridge with a toy<br />

gun.<br />

The suspect, Rilwan Wasiu,<br />

has been arrested by operatives<br />

of the Rapid Response Squad,<br />

RRS, of the Lagos State Police<br />

Command.<br />

RRS operatives sighted the<br />

suspect beating his girlfriend<br />

late at night by the road side and<br />

when they stopped to mediate<br />

in the dispute, a toy gun fell off<br />

the body of the suspect.<br />

The suspect had attempted to<br />

run away immediately the toy<br />

gun fell off his body, but he was<br />

promptly apprehended and<br />

taken to the RRS <strong>head</strong>quarters<br />

in Alausa, Ikeja.<br />

According to the suspect, “I<br />

found it where I was sleeping<br />

under Adeniji Adele Bridge. I<br />

picked it up to go and destroy it<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e the misunderstanding<br />

with my girlfriend.”<br />

However, on further<br />

interrogation, the suspect<br />

confessed that he belongs to a<br />

three-man robbery team that<br />

specialised in dispossessing<br />

stranded motorists and passersby<br />

of their belongings around<br />
