Public Works Person<br />
Barre Town is accepting applications for a Public Works<br />
Person. Individuals in this position perform a wide variety<br />
of tasks associated with public works: roads, drainage,<br />
sewerage system, water distribution, building maintenance.<br />
Minimum qualifications are high school diploma or<br />
equivalent; current Class B CDL; physical ability to perform<br />
heavy lifting; and ability to operate large truck with snowplow<br />
and wing. Experience driving trucks, operating equipment<br />
and working in utility (earth) construction or a building<br />
trade preferred. Usual work hours are M - F, 7:00 am -<br />
3:30 pm. Winter maintenance overtime, including night<br />
time and weekend work, is required. Starting hourly rate is<br />
$20.21 and increases by $2.75 per hour over 36 months.<br />
Excellent benefits offered per union contract include health,<br />
dental, life and short-term disability insurance, enrollment<br />
in VT Municipal Employees Retirement System, uniforms<br />
and annual reimbursement for safety boots.<br />
