Lady - A Women’s Expo, presented by 22nd Century Media and Planet Fitness, is set to return from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive in Tinley Park. The annual event also is sponsored by the Chicago Sky, Ingalls Health System and Celebrity Cruises. The free event has more than 100 vendors slated to attend this year — covering health and wellness to fashion and beauty, food to financial planning — making it the largest Lady expo to date, according to Heather Warthen, chief events officer at 22nd Century Media. “The nice thing about this expo that I see year to year is that we see a lot of girls getting together and starting a ladies day out,” Warthen said. “We also draw moms, daughters and granddaughters. That’s what makes me happy. It’s a great prelude into Mother’s Day weekend and a great chance for women of all ages to bond.” Among the highlights this year will be an expanded roster of vendors, as well as entertainment options. “I think people like to see what the vendors have to offer,” Warthen said. “It’s a great opportunity, because we have an entire stage of cooking demos, which is back again this year. We have some great local chefs, and you can pick up some new cooking tips. Delgado-Solis, 39, of Worth, was arrested on April 1 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, amongst several other charges, according to a Tinley Park Police Department report. An officer was dispatched at approximately 8:22 p.m. to the area of southbound Harlem Avenue from 163rd Street in reference to a possible intoxicated motorist. The officer reportedly observed a tan Chevrolet Suburban cross the striped lanes on two occasion, veer, and switch lanes before a u-turn. Delgado-Solis reportedly had the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as he spoke with the officer and admitted to drinking three beers. He reportedly failed three field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test reportedly disclosed a blood alcohol content level of .153. He was issued additional citations for improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, no valid driver’s license and BAC over .08, according to the report. March 31 • Mohammad N. AlShafeey, 24, of Oak Forest, was arrested for allegedly street racing on March 31. According to a Tinley Park Police Department report, at approximately 1:19 p.m. an officer traveling south on Harlem Avenue near the 16300 block observed two vehicles traveling northbound side by side at a “very high rate of speed.” The officer’s moving radar reportedly detected both vehicles traveling 75 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. A separate officer pulled over AlShafeey and he was placed into custody for aggravated speeding and street racing. March 30 • A Tinley Park man was reportedly the victim of financial fraud after $8,546.43 in authorized deductions were noticed after completing a transaction at First Midwest Bank in Tinley Park. The victim was told to fill out a fraud report and file a report with the Tinley Park Police Department. March 29 • A Tinley Park woman was reportedly the victim of credit card fraud after discovering an authorized charge of $1,200 for a fish finder. The woman told the Tinley Park Police Department that she believed her email account was compromised and that’s how the offender gained access to the credit card account information. March 26 • Approximately $2,080 worth of tools reportedly were stolen from a commercial vehicle parked at the Sleep Inn located in the 18400 block of Spring Creek Dr., according to a Tinley Park Police Department report. The victim told police the vehicle had been parked at about 10 p.m. on March 25 and when he returned to the vehicle at about 4:50 a.m. on March 26, the cab of the GMC Sierra had been punched out. Anyone listed in these reports is considered to be innocent of all charges until proven guilty in a court of law. <strong>TP</strong>PD recommends locking cars after thefts, burglaries SUBMITTED BY TINLEY PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT In the past few weeks, several vehicles that use the “key fob” system have been stolen in Tinley Park, according to a press release from the Tinley Park Police Department. In all instances, the owners left the key fobs in the vehicles, which prevented the doors from locking and gave thieves easy access to the keys. Several vehicles also were burglarized, many in the same vicinity as the car thefts. In the vast majority of cases, the vehicles were left unlocked. The Tinley Park Police Department strongly encourages all vehicle owners to lock their cars and remove the key after parking, and to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity.
