Support from The University of Texas<br />
System’s Science and Technology<br />
Acquisition and Retention, or STARs,<br />
program enabled <strong>the</strong> recruitment of<br />
National Academy of Engineering member Robert<br />
Schafrik, an internationally renowned expert in<br />
materials and manufacturing. STARs program support<br />
is awarded to institutions to help recruit and retain<br />
<strong>the</strong> highest qualified faculty to enhance teaching and<br />
research on UT System campuses. Dr. Schafrick is<br />
<strong>the</strong> new UTA Presidential Distinguished Professor of<br />
Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering,<br />
adding significantly to UTA’s rapidly expanding national<br />
expertise in <strong>the</strong> field.<br />
NEW ENDOWED PROFESSOR<br />
Delaina A. Price was recently named<br />
<strong>the</strong> Fenton Wayne Robnett Assistant<br />
Professor of History at UTA. The<br />
honor is given by <strong>the</strong> College of<br />
Liberal Arts Committee on Endowed<br />
Professorships to recognize early career excellence. Dr.<br />
Price, who will join UTA in August <strong>2018</strong>, earned a Ph.D. in<br />
history from Yale University, an M.A. in African-American<br />
Studies from Yale, an Ed.M. from Harvard University,<br />
and a B.A. from George Washington University. At<br />
Yale, she was awarded two fellowships from <strong>the</strong> Gilder<br />
Lehrman Center for <strong>the</strong> Study of Slavery, Resistance, and<br />
Abolition, a Bloomfield Fellowship, and a John F. Enders<br />
Fellowship and Research Grant.<br />
