ENGINEERING MEMBER JOINS UTA
Support from The University of Texas
System’s Science and Technology
Acquisition and Retention, or STARs,
program enabled the recruitment of
National Academy of Engineering member Robert
Schafrik, an internationally renowned expert in
materials and manufacturing. STARs program support
is awarded to institutions to help recruit and retain
the highest qualified faculty to enhance teaching and
research on UT System campuses. Dr. Schafrick is
the new UTA Presidential Distinguished Professor of
Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering,
adding significantly to UTA’s rapidly expanding national
expertise in the field.
NEW ENDOWED PROFESSOR
Delaina A. Price was recently named
the Fenton Wayne Robnett Assistant
Professor of History at UTA. The
honor is given by the College of
Liberal Arts Committee on Endowed
Professorships to recognize early career excellence. Dr.
Price, who will join UTA in August 2018, earned a Ph.D. in
history from Yale University, an M.A. in African-American
Studies from Yale, an Ed.M. from Harvard University,
and a B.A. from George Washington University. At
Yale, she was awarded two fellowships from the Gilder
Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and
Abolition, a Bloomfield Fellowship, and a John F. Enders
Fellowship and Research Grant.
